I picked up our boxes at church this morning. What are some good things to include?

We always head to the Dollar store. We usually do a boy and girl box for each age range.

At the dollar store we buy: Multipack of combs(split them up into multiple boxes), toothbrush/mini toothpaste combos, crayons, pencils, markers, little books of blank paper, a few toys, a few snacks/candies, stickers, coloring books, playing cards, character flash cards. Doesn't take much to fill up those little boxes! My daughter makes a card to include in each box and off they go.

We've been doing this since dd#1 was 1 year old and now it's a tradition that *she* is always the first one to ask about.

Just a reminder that next week is collection time for the boxes.

If you have the opportunity to volunteer at a processing center you really should go. It is so much fun and it's amazing to see what others come up with to put in their boxes.

Here is the list from the brochure:
Toys: small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, small Etch A Sketchs, toys that light up or make noise (with extra batteries)

School supplies: pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or markers, stamps, and ink pad setc, coloring books, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, etc,

Hygiene items: toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, comb, washcloth, etc.

Other: hard candy, lollipaps, mints, gum, sunglasses, flashlights (with extra batteries), ball caps, sock, T-shirts, toy jewelry, hair clips, watches, small picture books, etc.

We also found cush balls, stickers, and such as well.


Do NOT include the following:
Used items
War-related items
chocolate or perishable food items
liquids
medicines
breakable items

Our kids have a "packing party" at church tomorrow at 5. Our church always sends a ton of boxes. The pictures of the kids receiving them are just priceless.

Hi,

Our boxes are due at church tomorrow.

I found quite a bit of stuff in the dollar section at Target.

Pens, hair stuff, yoyos, ball, jr. slinkies, barbie dolls,. Check it out.

Target also had .50 tpaste travel size and bulk washcloths I sent wtih.

Plus, I put in some Poohs I had gotten earlier in the year that were marked down.
