my ds (1) is having problems with cows milk and we are going to disney in may. we've put him on soya milk and was wondering is soya milk available in WDW or not. Also anyone who has kids will allergies how do you handle things when one child wants an ice cream and the other cannot eat it. do you find alternative for one child or both? he loves his food and anything anyone else has he wants. we have never had any problems with my daughter eating anything so we are trying to work out how to handle it without either getting upset too much. thanks

I believe soy milk is available everywhere, counter service, table service and in the resort shops.

I have also seen that non-dairy ice cream is available at the table service restaurants and at many of the ice cream shops. The ice cream kiosks and and carts may not have this option available.

Make sure to add your lactose intolerance to your ADRs, then tell the host and the server when you arrive. The chef (or a delegate) will tell you which items are dairy free and offer substitutes in some cases, when possible.

Have a wonderful trip! :cool1:

thanks that helps a lot

Just to add, Dole Whips are lactose free.

The only dairy is sodium caseinate same thing in non-dairy creamer.

You can get Silk soy milk (plain, vanilla and chocolate) at every resort food court as well as at many park CS locations. Rice milk is more hit and miss.

You can get Tofutti brand soy ice cream and Rice Dream brand rice ice cream at every resort food court as well as at the major park ice cream shops (chocolate and vanilla).

Make sure to contact the Special Diets department (contact info is in the stickies on the disABILITIES! board). They'll put a note on all of your ADRs about the allergy plus they'll send you attachments listing foods that are 100% milk free (not just lactose free) as well as where they can be found.

Since you have one child who does have allergies and one who doesn't, I would suggest making a point of only picking up snacks at locations that can cater to the allergy. For instance, the ice cream shop on Main Street in MK carries the alternative ice creams so that's a great place to go for everybody's ice cream. If you want something like Mickey bars, have one parent take the child with the allergy to the ice cream parlour while the other takes the child without the allergies to a nearby cart to get the Mickey bar. If the child with the allergy would enjoy eating the frozen strawberry or pineapple bars then those would make a great option as they're completely milk free (assuming you've introduced strawberries or pineapple).

Just how sensitive is he? The bread products around the parks all contain milk. There are allergy safe buns available at select locations (resort food courts should all have them) but they're an odd texture as they're also gluten free and made by a company that I personally think makes some of my least favourite gluten free bread products. You'll want to find out about baked goods in general as the majority of the ones in the counters will have milk but there are milk free chocolate chip cookies and brownies available all over the place (again, see that list from Special Diets). Sunshine Seasons in Epcot even carries milk free milk chocolate bars (they're by Enjoy Life; that's the brand we use at home too).

Try browsing the disABILITIES! board and ask all sorts of questions over there. You'll find lots of people with plenty of food allergy at WDW experience.
