We'll be at WDW in May, and one of our party has a soy allergy. It's hard to find soy-free food choices at a lot of places. Last time at WDW she had to eat in the room for all her meals. Will they be able to accommodate her needs?

I have eaten very successfully at WDW with a severe soy allergy (I'm also a vegetarian and allergic to peanuts as well). I will say that counter service is a lot harder, but some of the bigger counter services places have Amy's mac and cheese (soy free, taste is merely okay) available if you ask. If you email the special diets people in advance they will send you a list of what counter services places carry it. I will say that my family does mostly table service (or we go to a hotel for quick service).

Generally table services places are not an issue. I even ate at Teppan Edo in Japan, where they cooked my food in rice oil.

Not a lot of dessert options aside from fruit and ice cream, but Babycakes bakery in downtown Disney has soy free baked goods.

Does she avoid soy lechitin and soybean oil as well?

The only reason I ask is because a lot of people allergic to soy can at least still have soy lechitin . It depends on severity and allergist suggestion. So that being said...I ate at Disney with a soy allergy but I was still ale to have soy lechitin.

In addition, I am allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, shellfish, eggs, wheat, oats, coconut, broccoli, soy protein

I ate very well.

For TS, we did:
Crystal palace (chef was amazing!..did this one twice)
1900 park fare (we didn't have chef TJ:() but it was still good
50s prime time was awesome
Sci Fi was great (he made us nachos for an appetizer since the artichoke dip was not safe!)
The plaza (was pretty good...nothing spectacular but my cheesesteak with no bun was good)

For QS we did:
POP food court (service was amazing!!!)
Columbia harbor house
Cosmic rays
Sunshine seasons
Studio catering company

We had amazing service everywhere. I'm sure that they will be able to accommodate a soy allergy pretty well at least at the TS restaurants. Might be more limited at QS. But considering soy is one of the top 8 allergens they should be pretty good. It's when the allergens are NOT one of the Top 8 that you start having some more problems sometimes.

My son with over 20 allergies including soy and most of the top 8 was treated like a Prince. He had tons of food and the chefs were wonderful with him. We were on the dining plan and he can't eat most of the kid's meals (no burger, hotdogs, mac & cheese, pizza, chicken nuggets), and they prepared whatever he needed that was safe for him. Just make sure you put the allergy on all your ADR's and a chef will come out to talk to you at the table service. At counter service, there will be a ingredient book that you can look at. Try going to counter service at off times, so they will have plenty of time to work with you and prepare the food.

There are allergy chicken tenders that are free of the top 8 allergies which would include soy. They are quite good. They are available at one QS place in each park and many resort QS places will have them too. Special Diets should be able to send you a Soy Free Dining Guide. Enjoy Life Cookies are available at a lot of QS places and they are also top 8 free. We're not soy free so I don't have a many more specifics.
