Souvenirs

It is tough just to choose 1 item! I love my many Christmas tree orniments that I have got from the various world wide Disney parks, my Mickey and friends totem pole from the Wilderness Lodge and my Disney watch that I wear every day (actually did not intend to buy that one but my watch stopped working mid Disneyland trip and I can't bear to not wear one!) But I think my favourite thing overall is a picture my friend took of me eating ice cream in the MK one Christmas eve which she got blown up into a big canvas print!! It was one of the few moments of that year that I had looked happy!

Oh, I also always buy a Venetian mask from the Italy pavillion in Epcot as collect these (I have some from Venice and the Vennetian in Las Vegas too!!)

Our favorite was a 3-D crystal (the type that is made by laser-burning bubbles into the glass to create a 3-D image) that was made from a 3-D scan of our faces set over a 3-D Disney castle. We got it in the Imaginarium (or whatever that Kodak sponsored place is that Figment's ride empties out into) in Epcot.

You can choose from various sizes and shapes of the crystals, and can also choose custom text and images to be placed into it. They have a station there to scan you all sitting together, and you get to preview and ok the image before they burn the crystal. The whole process has a one day turn-around time.

It was sort of pricey (~$100) but worth it to us.

I have a couple of pressed penny books I bought at the park as well, and it's fun to look through the pennies. I can remember when/where I pressed most of them - a fairly cheap souvenir. ;)

OOOO ya! I loved the pressed pennies! Super cheap and a good memento for almost every ride! They have super cute (and cheap! I think at least) books for them and they are good for scrapbooking too!

My next favorite souvenir is the silhouettes I had done of the kids. I had this done with DH in 1993 and I'll be hanging all of them together on the wall. The best part they give you two copies of the silhouettes so I was also able to give a set to my mom for her birthday which was the day after we got back.

I'd like to get a silhouette done of our whole family. They do this on Main Street, right?? thanks!

I think the pearl was around $15. The setting for the necklace was $25 I think, and then the cost of the chain. The chain wasn't great, but did the trick while we were there (maybe $6??) but when we got home we put it on a good chain, and honestly, it's absolutely beautiful!

Gosh though, my memory really is fuzzy on the price...I hope I'm not too far off. Anyone else? Better memory?

You can get it done on Main Street, but as a pp stated, you can get it done at DTD (behind the Christmas Shop I think) and you get 3 copies instead of the 2 that you get inside the MK. Just FYI. I read a whole thread on the boards about this.

How much is it to leave a legacy at Epcot? Or a stone at Magic Kingdom?

I really love my World Showcase towel with the flags of the countries colors in the Mickey heads.

You can also make jewelry out of them.

Our last trip in October we were at Animal Kingdom and i TOTALLY underestimated how cold it was that day. My daughter was freezing in her stroller!

We happened to be by a kiosk type stand that was selling the large size, beach towls that had Animal Kingdom and all of the characters in their Safari gear (its got like 50 characters on it). It was like $23 I think, and at the time I was totally irritated at myself for buying it, but wanted to keep my daughter warm.

WELL, of all the souvenirs I ended up buying on that trip, that towel is BY FAR my favorite thing! We use it all the time now for her baths, etc... and it's always just a great reminder of our wonderful trip!

My favorite souvenir might be my Wishes CD. The first time I saw the show was when we were on my sister's wish trip. Everytime I hear the music I think of that magical time and all of the wonderful volunteers and people who made it so special for her.

My daughter did the Pick A Pearl in Epcot and had it made into a necklace, it's beautiful!!

But besides that, and not to sound corny here, but my favorite things I come away with are our photos. We make a scrapbook of each vacation and load it with the pictures and our thoughts, some restaurant receipts, a couple other mementos, and that's always our favorite souvenir!

Not corny at all. My DH had to buy me a bigger memory card because I take so many pics.

DH collects the Olszewski Art...he does the EXACT replicas of the castle and Main Street. They light up and are so beautiful! So far we have the Castle, The Emporium, The Chapeau and confectionary, Exposition Hall and Tonys Town Square Restaurant, Town Square, and Central Plaza.

We have a couple more to get this coming trip. We save and save to get these! I love turning on the lights and they make me feel like Im there at the MK...just really tiny! LOL

check out his site...he is an amazing artist!!!

OK, tell me more about these silhouettes (SP?). Where exactly and how much?

My fave souvies are my ecpot cup, my pictures, photopass pics, pressed pennies, antenna ball, and I love my DD "first time to disney" t-shirt. Too bad she is out growing it.

Things I want to get next time: Another Epcot cup, a beach towel, a new antenna ball, the pass ports, and more pressed pennies.

I tend to like the cheap stuff!:rotfl:
