Souvenir glass - discount on refills?

I read somewhere that if you buy the drink of the day in the souvenir glass at the sail away party that you can get discounted refills later in the cruise. Is that true? Any details would be appreciated!

They aren't so much discounted as the time are more ounces for the same $5

Yes, the drink of the day in the souvenir cup will run around $9.5-$10, when you get it refilled it will cost $4.5-$5. You can also get the drink of the day for the lower price without the cup, but you will not get as much.

We've been doing this for the last several years -- at first, they seemed to offer discounts when you reused the glass. However, on our two most recent cruises (Magic in October and Dream in February) it seemed like the only "discount" we saw was that you could refill your souvenir glass at the price of a regular drink, which essentially meant a few more ounces for free. Not a huge savings, but its something. That being said, I think vacation drinks are that much more delicious/special in a colored hurricane glass, so I drank all of my drinks out of them whenever possible

Are the drinks really that much cheaper if you ask that it not be served in a souvenir glass?

Is it only for the "drink of the day" that you can use your souvenir glass later in the cruise? Or any pool bar drink?

Only the drink of the day is $4.50-$5.50. Not every drink naturally comes in a ouvenir glass. Most drinks come in a regular glass but you can request it be served in a souvenir cup which will cost more.

I have seen the most souvenir cups sold at the embarkation sailaway. The servers come around with trays of pre-filled drinks that they sell. They look like this:



These cups also come in other colors. Of course you can have whatever drink you want served in a glass like this but you will have to get it at a bar. They usually have all the same drink on trays the first day. They also have plastic coconut souvenir cups.
