Hi everyone,

Just wondering what kinds of suveniers (sp) people got for their toddlers on recent or past trips? This trip we've got a nice budget for stuff like this so I wonder what to look out for. My dd is 2.5 and is a very "girly" girl - meaning she loves princesses, dolls and dress-ups. Any ideas would be great.

Thanks,
Iheoma

We've been there 3 times, DS was 2, 2 1/2 and a week shy of being 3. Admitedly I was prepared to spend $$ on souveniers but he didn't ask for much. The first trip he wanted a light up spinning buzz rocket ($12) and a balloon ($5) and a Mickey basketball ($8). The 2nd trip he wanted a squirt bottle that was also a fan ($17) and finger cymbals ($3.50)-the belly dancer in Morocco made quite an impression with hers. The last trip he wanted boxes of Mickey Macaroni and Cheese ($3.50 a box). We also bought him an autograph book that he used all 3 trips.

We're going back in 2 months and I hope boxes of Mickey Mac and Cheese still do it for him...

There are so many stores and so much stuff, I can see it would be easy top get carried away.

I am planning on getting my daughter t-shirts and dresses, a doll that she likes, and maybe things that she can use at home to eat with.

If you go to Downtown Disney, check out Once Upon a Toy Store. They have tons of Disney toys exclusive to WDW. For $16, you get a box that you can fill with Mr/Mrs Potato Head parts with a Disney theme. One of the hats for Potato head is Mickey's Sorceror's hat! $16.00 sounds like a lot but you can take as much as you can fit in the box. Don't forget that Potato head has a compartment that you fill also!

Also, throught WDW and its Resorts, you will find places that sell Pins. Some are limited editions and all are exclusive to the WDW Resorts and Parks. You may find a pin of your daughter's favorite character or you might even find one that represents a particular event or time during your stay (i.e. Mother's Day, Easter). We are pin collectors so some of the pins we buy remind us of that particular trip.

One more thing, our daughters both got a necklace with their fav. Princess at one of the Souvenir shops in Downtown Disney and they love them! They were relatively inexpensive (less than $10) and it something they wear occasionally to remind them of their past vacation.

My dd (then just over age 2) chose for her souvenirs a Minnie Mouse flowered cap that came with a pair of sunglasses and a snap-on rubber bracelet with the fab 5 on it (got those at a little shop at MGM over near Pizza Planet). At World of Disney she chose a t-shirt and a light spinner. All the kids wanted those balloon balls they have outside World of Disney at DTD -- but do know that the inside of that thing is indeed a balloon, so once it deflates, confiscate it! My dd chose some pressed pennies as we would go through the parks (but we kept those "for her", because of the fear she would lose or "taste-test" them!) She now wants a "book" just like her brothers' for her 9-penny collection! I also had brought a few items to give the kids each day in special "treat bags" (stickers, a Mickey lollipop or Pooh pez dispenser, little battery powered fans, water toys, etc.) These I had picked up at WalMart or Dollar stores or Disney stores on sale in the months preceeding our trip. It sure helped to curb the "gimmies" in the park when they already knew each day would automatically bring a little treat! All 3 kids (ages 2, 6, and 7, plus 3 yr old nephew) were content to wait until the last two days to really "spend" their souvenir money!

Some items to also consider -- the shaped crayons (they have a set of Pooh ones, and also Mickey & Co, possibly also Princess -- they are molded at the top like the characters. These are about $10; I think there are 24 in the set.) Coloring books (there is one of the WDW parks -- pretty cool!) Also those play sets are a BIG hit (they have 'em all at Once upon a Toy -- they are about 12.50, if memory serves. They are often on sale at Disneystore.com, however, so know before you go! They have Ariel, B and the Beast, Snow White, etc. HOWEVER-- Some have small parts you may want to confiscate...) There are also a plethora of Princess items these days, available at either Disney or at TOysRUs. I have already gotten little princess dolls for my dd's 3rd birthday -- so cute, they come with little ponys the dolls can ride in.

And lest I forget -- beanies. My dd chose a Gopher at WDW at Once Upon a Toy....verrrry cute, I have to say, and not found at the Disney Stores, either -- after all, as my nametag states, he's "not in the book, you know!" He is dd's pride and joy because her pediatrician (who has EVERY DISNEY THING EVERY MADE, I SWEAR, crammed in his office!), despite having all the plates, all the snowglobes, all the beanies... does NOT have a Gopher! No where! She takes it in with her and he pretends to steal it every time. So this summer we are on a mission to bring the good doc back a gopher....

Hope this helps! 2 yrs old is actually the easy stage -- fairly cheap and simple! It's the older kids that run up the buckage! ;)

We just got back from taking out 2 1/2 dd and I think I had more fun shopping for her than she did. LOL

Some of the things we got for her were:
Mr Potato Head. I filled 2 boxes of "Stuff" in DTD - they have the best selection like Princess minnnie ears. ($16.00)
a set of 4 princess dolls- these were 6" tall and "grown up" versions (she has the ones from Toys'r us) ($20.00)
Mickey ears! a must
small 3" plastic characters of Mickey and Minnie (but they had all the characters) ($2-3.00)
Mickey bead bracelets ($5.00)
the Princess crayons
a 4 x 6 photo albumn for "her" pictures.
Cinderella jewelry/ music box ($15.00)
Mickey birthstone necklace (16.00) which she wore EVERY day.
a balloon

She didn't ask for much, she's not there yet. But we tried to keep to small items to make packing easier. except for the Potato head ( USAir inspected that bag on the trip home, I bet someone got a laugh!)

DTD has an entire Princess section that has a great selection.
Have fun!

While we bought more than this for my one year old at the time of our last trip but this is what he abolsutely loved and still plays with today:

Mr. Potato Head (we bought this for him to hold onto till he got older - nope he loved it right then and there and still does. It helps so much with learning facial parts too). We have put aside some the WDW parts like the Mickey Bar and the autograph book for Mr. Potato Head as they could be swallowed or ruined with saliva.

He only asked for one thing (more like grabbed it and owuldn;t let go) - a plastic replica of the monorail car. He loves that little monorail and it goes in the dipaer bag at all times to this day a year later.

He loved his Mickey Balloon too.

I bought tons of clothes for him too - way too much but the little oxford cloth rompers were awesome during last summer.

My Kids 1.5 & 3 love those play sets. They are great for when we go out to eat and you can put the figures in the dishwasher to clean them. Last time there we got Peter Pan , Alladin and Beauty & the Beast. My DD 3 now wants the Cinderella & Snow White sets I try and get a Tarzan or Toy Story one for my DS 1.5 on our next visit

Mickey ears
Pal Mickey
T shirts
Brought DS light spinners, DS small princess figures, and a few Toys R Us mini toys from home
pins
autograph book
scrapbooks (so she can look back at what she did)
Disney World dvd
Special princess cup
Mickey and tinkerbell fun straws
Playhouse Disney cd
Rolie Polie Olie toys
Winter mickey hat
Hair clips

All the rest of the souveniers were for mommy & daddy!
Maybe next time she can choose her own!

I wll be taking my nieces (9 & 6) in May. They have a 19 month old sister who will be staying at home. What is something good for them to take home to her. We are planning on getting her Mickey years and an outfit of some sort.

My daughter will be the same age, and we are getting her a tea cup set, dolls, and clothes. How about some pajamas and a video. The girls will be able to watch the video together and have a Disney night where they can talk about their trip.
