Can you believe my ticket prices have dropped since I bought them? I knew I shouldn't look. They are with Southwest. Can I get credit for the difference? How does that work? We have the cheapest category tickets. Thanks!

Yes you can get the difference credited toward a future ticket.
I'm not entirely sure of the process but I'm sure a quick search on google will give you the direct SW link

If you want the price drop, you will have to log in, select change ticket, it will bring up a page to select day, time and price and reselect your choice. When you select the lower ticket price, it will tell you, that you now have a credit. keep that 6 digit code to keep track of your credit.

Does it cost anything to do this? I look on Sw website but I couldn't find the answer. People on the Dis know everything and state is plainly. Thanks!

Nope, SW doesn't charge for this. Two things to keep in mind: the credit will expire 1 year from your original date of purchase. And each credit can only be used by the person it was issued to. Meaning each person must use their own credit in the future, 1 or 2 people can't use all the credits. If you don't fly SW again within the year, the credit will expire.

I just did it! It is very easy. Saved $33 per person. Not much, but something. We are thinking of using it for early bird check-in. Thanks for the help!

Unfortunately ... TTF (Ticketless Travel Funds) ** Cannot ** be used for EBCI :sad2:

It's just one of those things that Southwest Airlines has a rule about ... and is a aw shucks moment.

Just wanted to add if you booked with RR points your points will be returned to your account.

I did now know that! Thanks! We're flying in Nov (not booked yet, don't think they come out til May). I should have enough RR for all the tickets but we rarely fly, so probably wouldn't have bothered checking for a credit that would expire in a year. For RR points, I'll keep checking :-)

Wanted to add to this. If you use the credits and bought a new ticket, then canceled/changed/whatever, the total "new" credit still retains the original expiration date.

We purchased in Jan 15 for May travel. I rebooked at a lower price and got $30 credit. In March I used that $30 credit towards a new ticket for our summer trip. When I canceled the ticket, the entire $200+ credit had an expiration of Jan 2016 instead of March 2016. Not a big deal for us, but something to keep in mind, and more reason to buy 1-way tickets.

thanks for the additional info. I didn't know about the ebci rule. Too bad. I don't think I'm checking rate anymore. Just causes trouble.

Dh makes fun of me to create an entire vacation and spend thousands just to use a $200 credit. lol.
Now that we usually book with points I rarely deal with credit expiration dates.

Southwest's great change policy makes them a breath of fresh air in the airline industry. And those points that you can put back in with no penalty are even cooler. I Love Southwest and other things being equal always use them.

I can cancel frequent flyer tickets on United and re-deposit them for no fee due to my status.

Southwest's no fee change is great, but useless for many people because they will never have a chance to use their credits.

If you can't do this online you can always call and speak with a representative. I just put my phone on speaker and go about whatever I was doing. I'd rather speak with a live person!

SW has sent me multiple offers recently for tickets from DEN to SNA (aka Disneyland) for $39/each way. Plus they sent me a 20% promo code... it was tempting, but I'm still not ready (not in the mood) to travel yet. And we still have a credit with them from a trip we cancelled....

Anyways -- if you haven't already signed up, sign up for their emails or follow them on FaceBook. I get deals and awesome discount codes frequently.

Just curious, are you their highest tier of flyer to receive these e-mails? Or are you just 'regular'? :rotfl2: I would be very interesting in hearing about this offer, if anyone has further details they could share!

I haven't seen a Promo Code for awhile now. You would think Milwaukee is centrally located and would have some flights at $39. A trip from Milwaukee to Minneapolis is over $200. I have flown from Orlando to Milwaukee and the plane continues to Minneapolis and no one is ever waiting to get on. Plus the plane is nearly empty.

When Southwest posts a deal on facebook, people blast them with complaints. I am shocked when Southwest answers their complaints.
