Anyone travel Southwest during Thanksgiving week? I'm trying to plan a trip for for 11/20-11/27 and was wondering about prices for flying that week. Southwest will roll out their pricing on June 18th but I'd like to get some sort of idea before then. Thanks!

Well, that all depends on where you are traveling from.

In my experience, Thanksgiving is a peak time and you likely will pay peak-time prices for any tickets over that weekend. As an example, we have $180 RT tix from STL-MCO for next weekend, whereas peak fares generally are close to twice that price.

Also, FYI, SWA will be releasing November travel dates for sale on June 10, not June 18.

Could somebody please clarify Southwest's release date for fares? I have seen on the boards June 10, June 15, and June 18. When I check Southwest's website, I am still seeing June 10. I have cleared my cache etc and still getting the same date of June 10.

I dont want to miss the opening.

Thanks in advance

Karen

How would anyone be able to confim anything but the June 10 date that is officially posted on their Web site?

What I meant was, the previous poster stated June 18 and I saw on another thread a poster saw June 15.

If you look under travel tools, it shows June 10, but if you look under customer service--FAQ, it gives June 15.

19. How far in advance may I purchase Southwest Airlines travel?
You may now purchase Southwest Airlines travel through November 5, 2010. On June 15, we will open our schedule for sale through January 7, 2011.

We traveled to Disney last year from Providence. My advise to you is to be online and ready to book right when the booking window opens. (I know there is some debate as to when that actually is)

I was at work trying to make my reservations, and I got called away from my desk for about two hours, and the rates had increased in that time.

At the minimun, be prepared to spend more for your airfare than at other times of the year.

Ah, that explains it a bit better.

AFAIK, the date on the Travel Tools page likely is the current "official" date; which, of course, still is subject to change.

I wasn't aware that the FAQ had a conflicting date, which is somewhat confusing. I have a vague recollection that SWA did change the date after their initial announcement, so it's possible that the FAQ didn't get updated when that happened.

anyone know what time you can start booking SW on the hopeful June 10th date?

also FYI just for comparrison sake for the OP question:

AirTran from Chicago to MCO on Friday 11-19 non stop is 150+ and departing on Sun 11-28 for return flight non stop is $279

Delta was :scared1: at over $800 per passenger

and AA was at best $301 on the 19th and $311 on 28th...

looked like Saturday flights were slightly cheaper...but we are set on our travel days...just hoping SW will have something good. I have 6 seats to buy and for my very scary budget of $3000
