Called Southwest yesterday and got STL to MCO for $54.88 each way for October 27 to November 3. This saved us over $700. The catch seems to be you have to fly on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

That's a great fare! The travel day restrictions are pretty typical. SWA also recently has added a couple of STL-MCO non-stops each day, making them an even better option out of St. Louis.

What I love is that SWA also drives down American's fares. For a while you could get American flights to MCO for as low as $118 RT (which I assume is exactly what the SWA flights wind up being when all taxes and fees are included). We were able to get AA RTs in November for around $200 with a flight back on Sunday. That's down nearly $100 per ticket from what the fares were before SWA announced their November dates.

Great! I'm hoping that the great fares continue into next year. We have a surprise trip planned for our family at the end of January into February. Our kids will find out at Christmas that we are going to Disney but we drove last time and they will expect for us to drive again. We are hoping to surprise them by driving to the airport and getting on a plane instead of the forever drive to Disney.

kaydoggy - that is a wonderful fare! We booked tickets for our December trip back in April and RT was $294. We flew SWA last fall and it was a breeze. The only reason I didn't book them for December was I couldn't wait for SWA to release their dates.

We just survived the American Airlines computer snafu this past weekend that left us stranded in the Miami International Airport overnight on Sunday (returning from 10 days in Guatemala) and I have to tell you that if we didn't already have the December tickets, I would be booking SWA.

Congrats on the great fare and have a great trip!

Hi fellow St. Louisans, we also got the great rate of 59.00 each way for our trip next month. I have a question....how do you guys get to Lambert. We haven't any family/friends to get us to the airport due to work schedules. We thought about taxi, but it looks like it will probably run us about 60-80 dollars round trip. Our only choice is to self park at the airport parking lots that would probably cost us between 55-80 dollars for 10 days. Anyone familiar with any towncar services. I've looked on line, but they are costly and the towncars that are available usually they only allow up to 3 passengers. Its my DH, DD9, DD4 and myself. TIA

There are a few options. First off, try signing up for the parking club at http://www.parkexpress-stl.com, when we signed up they sent us a voucher for 7 days free parking. I don't know if they are still doing that, but it's just the BEST garage (they have *outstanding* service, I find) and only $6.95/day if you stay over Saturday night. (Park Express is the big red garage at 170@Natural Bridge.)

Another parking option is to use www.airportparkinglots.com; they will generate a list of reduced-rate parking, you can pick which lot you want from the list. They usually will send you to Payless or Park n' Fly.

The cheapest option, depending on where you live, might be to cab only to the nearest MetroLink station. At that point, you can get the train for under $2/person.

Can't help you on car services; I've never used them here.

NotUrsula, thanks so much for the info. We are so close to I170 and Natural Bridge. I'll give the links a shot!

We have found it cheaper to stay at the LaQuinta airport facility for $44.99 for 1 night (about $50 after tax) than pay long term parking. They have a wonderful shuttle that works great for us.

We have even stayed there when there was plenty of time to drive to the airport. Just easier to know where the car is and cheaper too. Plus, it gives us an extra night and the kids can play at the pool.
