Southwest Schedule???

We are going to WDW on December 19. SWA is now accepting reservations through September 8. Two questions:

1. When Southwest opens their schedule, do they do it one month at a time? in a 3 month block?
In other words, will the next schedule extension only open up October flights? or any chance December flights will also open up soon?

2. Does anyone remember when the December schedule opened up in years past?

I'm going the end of November so I'm anxious to know if anyone knows the answers! I'm getting nervous not having my airfare bought yet, but I'm holding out for Southwest as Delta/Song's fares are wayyy too high out of BDL.

Last year, we bought our tickets for Christmas week right when Southwest released the dates - sometime in July.

There's a good chance Delta's fares will come down once Southwest offers flights on the same dates. Why should they be concerned about the competition when the competition isn't there yet?

Thanks for that little tidbit about SWA vs Delta prices. Only time we fly is to the World so any info is helpful!! I been rackin' my brain on why those Delta direct flights are so pricey for Dec.

I was wondering the same thing. I am flying beginning of Oct. and have seen some pretty good prices but reluctant to buy before Southwest releases their schedule. For one, they are MUCH closer to my home, and also the change fee is much less. I thought that maybe they only scheduled 6 months out, but the have been scheduled through Sept. 8 for a few weeks already.

But I am also hoping they do the B1G1 free like they did last May! I am flying out of BDL too and the other airlines are pretty comparable in price (around $200 right now R/T) Spirit airlines is only $122 out of NYC right now but its too much for us to drive there Oh well... Steph due with baby #4
