So, I booked my southwest flight last week and now it is on sale. How do I get the price difference as a credit?

Go under change/modify flight (it's on the main home page) pplug in your confirmation numbre and name, then select the flight portion you wish to change. :-)

All you have to do is begin booking the sale fare. When you get to the point in the booking process where they are asking for your CC info stop and minimize the screen. Then open the SW site in another window, go to the Travel Center and cancel your old reservations. When you finish cancelling the old reservations it will give you a confirmation # (which is the same as the old confirmation # BTW)...write that down.
Then go back and reopen the screen where you were booking the new flight and finish booking. When you see the tab on the payment page that syas "Apply Ticketless Travel Funds" click that and enter the confirmation number you wrote down. Finish the booking process and voila! On the confirmation page for the new flights it will tell you how much you have remaining in credit in your Ticketless Travel Funds account.

Easy as pie. I always do the 2 screen method because that ensures that I do not cancel my old flights until the new flights are on hold for me...in other words you won't cancel the old ones and then find out that the ones you wanted are not available. With the 2 screen method the new seats are held on the minimized screen while you cancelled the old reservation.

Thank you. Boy that was just too easy. Why can't all airlines do that? Not only was I able to change the flight time on one that was higher last week, I saved $80.00 for the 5 of us.

I really think I am going to be come a much bigger Southwest fan.

Hang on to that original confirmation number. You will need it when you want to use the funds in your ticketless travel fund account.

If you kept all of your flights same as the original booking (i.e. flight #'s, times, including the fare bucket it came from), you can call SWA at the 214 #, and get a credit to your credit card. I was able to do that 3 times already since I booked our flights for Sept on May 19th.

Too late. I already changed the flight. We originally wanted the 2:30 but when we booked it was a higher price so we booked the 5:50. Today when I went in the 2:30 was also a lower fare so I booked it. I know I can use the credits. My dd4 really wants to go stay at the Nick hotel. I am such a disney nut I can't see spending my money on Universal but if I get to use my credit it will not seem so bad. I will keep that in mind for next time.

Thanks for posting this. The last time I rebooked, I used the "two window" method to cancel one reservation and use the funds to book the new reservation. This method does it all in one screen and applies the funds automatically which made it easier. Thanks! :thumbsup2

SB in Ky, thanks for the two screen way of doing it. I got a ding today and that is the way you have to do it for a ding. I saved another $50.00 today. I am loving southwest.
