If you have a SW flight booked and need to change it to the "Fully Refundable" fare, what portion is refundable? The new flight would be using the credit from changing the original flight - so if you had to cancel, would you only be able to get a refund of the additional $$ paid and have the rest available as credit for future use, or is there a way to get the full amount refunded? It seems that they wouldn't allow that since if you needed to cancel you could just pay the difference to change to refundable and then cancel and get all $$ back, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

I believe the entire amount is refundable once you upgrade. Thats the reason the refundable tickets are so much more LOL

I used some left over ticketless travel funds a month or so ago (it was just like $25) to apply toward the purchase of a "refundable anytime" fare for DH when he was on a business trip and he thought his NW flight was about to get cancelled....turned out his NW flight was NOT cancelled so I just cancelled his SW refundable ticket and the entire amt was refunded to my CC....I do not know if it would have been any different had the ticketless travel funds paid for most of the ticket....but I suspect not.

Funds retain thier original rules. So if you use "non refundable" to buy a refundable ticket, that portion will still be a credit with SW when you cancel. Any other monies paid will be refunded.
