If I get a Ding for my exact flight, will SW refund my money ? i thought I read somewhere that they do. If so, how do I purchase if the Ding comes up? TIA

It can easily be done online...
First book your Ding rate until you get to the part where you enter payment.
Open a NEW window and go to the Travel Center and cancel your original flight. You will be given a confirmation number for ticketless travel funds.
Now reopen the Ding window and select View/Apply Ticketless travel funds to pay for this fare. It will deduct your fare from the funds.
I've done this a couple of times, just did it today and saved $71!

This is a quote from laurabelle and sounds like the best way to do it.

They will give you a credit which you can use for up to a year after when you first purchased tickets and you can transfer the credit to anyone on any flight.(for example we changed to a ding fare on our flights and later paid for another trip with the savings.We were also able to buy a ticket for my neice)
As to how search these boards I believe you open 2 windows at the same time to ensure not losing your seats. We were lucky we cancelled and then rebooked as there were lots of seats on our flights.

you can always get a credit when your fare goes down in price. You can sometimes get a refund. It all depends on what fare you booked and what fare you changed to. The new, lower price fare must be in the same fare bucket in order for you to get a refund. The fare bucket is indicated on your confirmation that SW emails to you. As long as it's in the same fare bucket you can call the (214) # (not the (800) #) and request a refund.

If you bought a internet only fare and then got a better Ding fare, that is two different fare buckets so no refund. If you bought an internet only fare then that internet only fare went down in price and as long as it's the same bucket and no changes have been made to the itinerary, you can request and most likely be given a refund.

I've been able to get a refund right away and other times I was told to call after the flight has been compeleted and they will refund at that time. HTH
