Southwest - Quick help on policies/ticket changes

Hi - we haven't flown SW much before and only for definitely plans the couple times we did. I tried looking for this at the SW website, but couldn't find it so figured this would be quicker! I'm looking at booking a trip on SW now but it could require a change or maybe even cancelling one person.

If I cancel one person on our reservation (all family members), from what I've read here, I can use that money amount towards another ticket any time within a year from when I book? Does it have to be for that specific person, or if I book one seat in my son's name, could my husband or I or a sibling use it during that time?

The policy now thru 1/27/2011 is that ticketless travel fund can be used by anyone. You can book a flight tomorrow with that credit that flies after 1/28/2011 with a different name. As of 1/28/2011, those ticketless travel funds are non-transferable and must be used by the person whose name was on the original ticket.

Just clarifying - so if I book one today for January 25th, 2011 (date I'm looking at) in my son's name and we end up cancelling it for him, any of us could still use those funds any time through Sept 30, 2011?

Thanks - I had no idea it was changing or anything, but he'd be unlikely to fly again but anyone else in the family would be more likely to.

I knew it was confusing when I was typing it. If you cancel your son's ticket, it can be used by someone else for a ticket purchased before 1/28/2011. If you purhcase a ticket after 1/28/2011, it can only be used by your son.
Is that any better?
