We are taking Southwest to WDW this year. My son asked if they feed us anything on board. My comment was we would be lucky if they give us a drink! Am I right? Do we even get a drink, or do they go that quantum leap further and give us peanuts or pretzels as well!

Thanks....

SWA serves beverages on board (pop, coffee, juice, etc) by the glass They have alcoholic beverages available for a fee. They also serve peanuts and often Cheezits, Wheat Thins, etc on short flights. On longer flights, I have been served a "snack box" that had a piece of cheese, crackers and meat stick.

Is Phila to Orlando considered a "short" or "long" flight?

My guess is short. I fly DTW-MDW and then MDW to MCO and I only get a short snack.

I get the snack box on the BNA to LAX run!

We flew SW from New Hampshire to Orlando and were given the "snack box". It had teddy grahams, cheese crackers, and oreos. The FAs come around and take drink orders, juice and soda free of charge, I think they came twice each flight. We received the exact same snack box on the way home which was a 7 AM flight. The kids were thrilled, oreos for breakfast.

I just booked with them this morning and my confirmation says...

************** INFLIGHT SERVICE **************
Snack Service: If your total flight itinerary includes a series
of flights that each are less than two hours in duration, you
will be served peanuts/pretzels on each flight segment. If your
itinerary includes any nonstop flight longer than two(2) hours,
you will be served a packaged snack on that flight segment.
Southwest Airlines does not serve sandwiches or meals, however,
you may bring something to eat on board.

PHL to MCO is 2 and a half hours.
Hope this helps.

When we flew PHL to TPA we were served a drink and graham crackers and peanuts. They also gave all the kids activity books with crayons and a pair of wings to stick to their shirts.

ummm, a meat stick sounds tasty. Sorry, this just made me giggle.

We flew a nonstop from buf which is 2 1/2 hours and we didn't get the snack box, we were served graham crackers and a drink.

You can easily take your own meal on the plane in disposable container and it is not counted as a carry-on when flying Southwest. We usually take subs/chips/cookie/soda for each of us from Goodcents or another restaurant and dine when "we" are ready. It helps break up the monotony of flying 2.5 hours as well. Since we have teen boys, they are ALWAYS hungry, so it keeps them happier than pretzels or cheese-its.

Yep - the days of the meat stick, cheese, and crackers box is long gone!

I remember them well - my youngest (5 at the time) LOVED the "Jim Sticks". She was the only one of the five of us that was interested - so we brought the leftovers with us to the resort as snacks - the Mousekeepers made a really cool picnic for our beanies using all the snacks!

On a short flight - they pass the basket with your choice of crackers, graham snacks & peanuts, etc. along with the usual beverage service.

On the longer flight - we got a snack box with Oreos, fruit snacks, and some cheese crackers.

If you want real food - bring it with you!
