Haven't flown in a long time and have a question. If you book a flight with southwest and then find a lower fare, I know you can rebook to get the lower fare.

Do you have one year from the initial booking or the rebooking date to use the credit?

If I don't want to fly within that year, can someone in my family use the credit?

The credit is good for one year from the initial booking. The name under which the original ticket was purchased is the only person who can use the credit. HTH.

Our flight on 4/29 was 4 hours late. They gave each of us a $100. voucher. Having to be there couple hours early and then the delay that was a very long 6 hours in airport!!

Just wanted to mention that when you use the credit money for your next trip, the trip has to end before for original purchase expiration date.

For example if you originally purchased your ticket on April 1, 2013 the trip you take using the refund amount must have a return flight of no later than April 1, 2014. So don't think you can book a trip from say March 28 to April 5 and be able to use these funds because the return flight must be on or before April 1.

But couldn't you just buy the flights separately? It doesn't have to be a round trip ticket.

I had posted a question about using credits on a purchase, and was given this exact advice from someone no these boards. (Our credit expires in August, and the trip we are taking is in July.) I used the credit on what I thought was going to be the cheaper of the two legs (outbound). Good thing, since our return flights have dropped significantly, and now I have a whole year to use up that credit.
