I've been looking on Southwest's website and can't seem to find the answer but I'm pretty sure I can do what I want to do, so I'm asking the experts here....

I would like to purchase tickets for a long weekend, depart on a Thursday and coming home on a Sunday. This is actually for a sporting event that I won't have the actualy schedule until a couple months after the I purchase the tickets. There is a slight chance that I would need to push our return flight out to the Monday.

If I have already purchase the Thur - Sun, can I change the return flight to Monday without fee? I mean, I know if there is a price difference I would have to pay that difference, but I'm hoping that I'm not being socked with a $75 change fee for each ticket.

Am I thinking correctly in that I can do this without the change fee?

Thanks for all of your help! :)

Southwest does not have any change fees, but you will have pay any increase in fare from Sunday to Monday,

Great, that is exactly what I thought but couldn't see it in writing so wanted to verify. :thumbsup2 Thank you, thank you!!!

That is correct. SWA is one of the only airlines that will allow you to make changes to your flight arrangements without charging you a fee. As you noted, if the fare for the revised schedule is higher you will need to pay the difference in fares when you make the change, However, if the fare is lower SWA actually will give you a credit to use on a future flight.

And to make the changes easier, I would suggest booking each leg of the trip as a one-way flight, rather than round trip.
