I have flown Southwest on our past 4 trips, but never applied any of our flights to my rapid rewards account. Also, I have not created a rapids awards account for my DH, DS or DD. What are the chances of having our past flights added to my account and creating accounts for my family and adding the flights? Just wondering if it's worth pursuing. Thanks.

I'm not sure if you can go back but it's worth a try .I have had to have some added on but I was a member and they were through work so I didn't want to do it until after the fact.

I just this year signed the rest of the family up as we will be going more with DVC .My June flight was free on RR so any bit will help.

I have been able to have past trips credited to a Southwest RR account. I also originally had an account for only myself but later created accounts for my husband and kids. To get credit for the past trips will depend on how far back they are. I think they will only go back one year. It is very helpful if you still have the confirmation numbers for the flights. If not the CSR may be able to find them if you can give them the credit card number you used to pay for the flights. I have had to do it this way for some of the flights and have always been very lucky with how hard the CSR worked to help me find the flights, even to checking under different CC numbers if I wasn't sure which card we had used. Once you have the confirmation numbers you need to write to them and ask to have those flights credited to your accounts. (You should probably set up the accounts first, then go about trying to get the credit for past flights) At first I didn't feel that we travelled enough to bother with the RR accounts but eventually figured it was worth at least setting them up and seeing what happens. So far I have gotten one free flight, my husband has gotten one and my son is 3.5 credits from one. At least get the accounts set up and see how many credits you can accumulate from past flights. Call the Southwest RR phone number and see what they can do for you. I believe you get a couple credits for just starting the account. Also, you can sometimes get past credit for hotel stays and car rentals depending on how long ago those were. Sorry so long but I wanted to fully share my experience. Good luck!

I just called and had some reservations added. This is from Southwest:

You may enter your account number when making your reservation to receive credit when your flight is completed. If you do not enter your account number prior to arriving at the airport, the Southwest Airlines Customer Service Agent will accept your account number at the time of checkin in any form (i.e. written on paper, memorized, etc.) If you are unable to provide your account number before your flight, we do allow for a retroactive flight credit. Flights taken over 12 months ago are ineligible for credit. In order to facilitate this request, please submit a photocopy of your ticket receipt or Ticketless Travel itinerary, along with your account number to Rapid Rewards, P.O. Box 36657, Dallas, TX 75235.
