I have 5 tix booked on Delta for our December trip but am just trying to create a plan "B" in case I need it.

In checking the SW website I noticed it said for children or youth fares to call. Do they offer a discount for children? I saw nothing when booking a sample trip online (just to see what times they fly Hartford to Orlando) but did see this in bold print down below.

Anyone know anything about children flying on SW?

We always fly Southwest, and my children have always been charged the same as the adults. I think they are talking about infants which will be held in the same seat as parents. Even charged as adults we always get cheaper fares with Southwest than other companies. If you do decide to book through them I would like to make a suggestion. Download Ding on their site. You can get some pretty good deals. Best of luck. Hope it works out.

Yes, you do save a few dollars with youth fares, the only downside is that you cannot do your boarding pass on line 24hrs in advance to secure an "A" spot for youth tickets. You have to do it at the airport. You don't have to book youth fares for children, then you can get your boarding passes ahead. I would call and find out the price difference, then you can decide whether the savings is worth waiting until you get to the airport to get your boarding pass.

I believe the SW children's fares are a few bucks off the full price fare. But it's almost always cheaper to get one of the discounted fares and pay the adult price.
