I did the online check-in tonight and we received A42,43,44 & 45. Does that mean we will be the 42, 43, 44 & 45th person to board the plane? Once we get on, then do we just find any seats that are available? Does this guarantee we will be together?

There are some A numbers below 20 that sometimes are not utilized, but otherwise, yes, you'd be correct, you're boarding number is indicative of how many people will board before you.

As for sitting together, there are around 20 - 23 rows on the plane, each with 3 seats on each side, so in theory, each row could have a person seated in one seat on each side, and you'd have to break up across aisles. Now realistically, this probably won't happen as there will be other families sitting together too (not SW isn't as big for business travel - so you don't have as many single business travelers). You should have no issues sitting together.

Don't worry. Anyone boarding in the "A" group will have a good selection of seats. You'll be able to sit together - either 3 in one row and 1 in an adjacent row, or 2 & 2 - your choice.

Thanks for the responses! Now I am not sure which to pick-the 2x2, or 3x1. Which do you think is better? My kids are 11 & 14.

I can't even go to bed right now-I am just so excited for the morning to arrive!

When traveling with my kids, we usually sit 2 & 2. You could always take a gander at the number of people that are on the flight. If it doesn't look full, you can always try sitting 2 & 2 with the middle seat empty for a little extra room. If it is a full flight, that isn't going to work.
Truthfully, it depends on your kids. Enjoy your trip!

Ask as you are boarding how full the flight is, that will let you know if you can 'spread out' and just get an aisle and window seat either across the aisle or front / back from each other. Also, if it's a connecting flight, there may already be people on the plane, but still shouldnt be an issue at all to get together.

at 11 and 14 I would sit with my husband and let the kiddos fend for themselves. ;)

I have yet to be on a SW flight that is not sold out or had room to spread out! Good luck with that.

Easy. Kids at the back of the plane, parents up front.

Oh it happens. Have been on a plane that was only about 1/2 full. And less then 3/4 full quite often. Of course many have been over 90% full also.

I think a lot depends where you're flying to/from and also the day of the week as to whether you'll have a full flight................
