I have been watching flights for my dates in April for MONTHS. They have not gone below nearly $200 each way, particularly for Fri April 24 ... However, when I do a flexible search every other Sunday and Friday in April and May is significantly less. What gives?? I rented points so I can't change my Disney dates to get the better airfare rates.

I know in the Northeast, most of our schools have April vacation that week (4/20-4/25) so a lot of people head down to FL. That is probably the reason why rates haven't gone down.

I didn't realize that, I figured most had Spring break March-April with Easter being early April. I'm in Louisiana, though, and it's particularly the return flights from MCO to MSY... which wouldn't be affected by the Northeast, I wouldn't think.

It may or may not work, but worth a shot. (Or use "incognito" mode).

That particular Friday is very expensive. We are flying from Hartford to Orlando that week, I just purchased tickets on Saturday. DS and I are flying back to Hartford on Wednedsay the 22nd and our MCO-BDL fare was $181 each. DH is flying on Friday the 24th and the MCO-BDL flight was $374. :scared1: I had no choice about the day he flies, he's staying the extra days for a work conference at WDW. I do think that the poster who mentioned the spring vacation from schools might be on to something....our spring break is the week of the 13th-17th of April, but several other districts in our area have the week of the 20th - 24th.

Maybe flying on Thursday or Saturday would be less expensive for you? It might be worth spending the money for an extra night in a hotel to save a lot more on the flights.

scrapquilter, what a great idea. I had to pay $279 for one child's fare for the returning leg (the rest are booked on points) but it would be $294 to stay an extra night, and then I could get her ticket on points for Saturday bc it's significantly less! I realize I'm going to have to pay for an extra day of food too but I'd rather an extra day in Disney for the same price as a plane ticket!

Aren't Fridays and Saturday's generally more expensive to fly? If you can bump it one way or the other you might be able to save some money that way...

No availability to add a day since we're renting points, bummer. (We have two small kids so changing resorts is not an option.) Guess I'm stuck with the random high price that ONE Friday in all of April!

Changing resorts at Disney is pretty easy - even with 2 small kids. Disney pretty much moves all your stuff for you. You just have to pack up (which you'll have to do anyway). Pack it up, they pick it up. You leave to go to the park for the day and when you're done go to the next resort. I would just pack one bag that holds what you need for the 1-night stay in the other resort. Then you don't have to dig through EVERYTHING for that one night. Depending on the savings involved, it would be worth it to me.

If you can't move your dates around, I would check southwest every couple of days to see if their rates change.
Did you check other airline prices?

I would try to get a value room for that night if you can fly a day earlier. The variability in airfare is why I like to book it first and let that determine my days, but then I don't rent/buy DVC either.
