Southwest Airlines opened its summer schedule this morning. Flights can now be booked through August 5th. We now have free flights booked for our Disney trip this summer, and if fares go down at any point, we can have the points difference refunded to our account! :flower1:

I've been waiting for these to open up so I could book our Jamaica trip that runs 5/29-6/5. Was so excited to see they opened up only to see that the one-way back from Jamaica (the one I've been waiting on) was over $400 or 22,000+ miles.

I went ahead and booked the leg to Jamaica as it was only 14,000+ miles. I'm desperately hoping the return leg price drops. United is 481 round trip right now.

I don't have a lot of experience with Southwest. Is it common for price to drop after initial release?

Yes, very common. Check every day. If you have the points though, I would just book your return flight. There are no restrictions on points if you cancel and rebook at a lower fare, they just drop back into your account. That way you guarantee that is the most you will pay.

Booked mine with points this morning. I had seen that through May, Omaha now has nonstops on Saturdays to MCO so we decided we'd go 6/11-6/18. After I booked, I went back and checked and now Omaha has a nonstop every day of the week! So I have to decide if we want to do Sat-Sat still. We would have to fly out very early in the morning to go down there, and arrive back to Omaha pretty late with the Saturday flights. I was thinking it would be better to return on the Friday since it gets back earlier and we would have all weekend to recuperate but it shows sold out already. I will be watching that and try to make a decision. Or we could fly down on Sunday at noon...DD14 will have just returned from a school trip to New Orleans on Thursday so she's going to be tired.

Love the ability to switch things around but it's hard to make the decisions.

Got my flights for $135/each way. A bit higher than normal (normal is usually $104). But, today they are up to $309 or sold out completely...so, score!

I have seen the flights change during the day too don't remember that before thinking if you see a price you like book it!!

Wife had enough points for hers to be free. So we got 2 nonstop roundtrip to Seattle from Kansas City for 375 in July:earsboy:
