Southwest luggage delivery at MCO?

We go to WDW several times a year and have always gotten our luggage quickly at MCO. In July, we flew Southwest for the first time and it took forever (about 45 minutes). Does anyone have experience with Southwest baggage? Was this just a fluke? We're going for a short trip in Oct on Southwest. I'm leaning towards checking bags because they're free, but I don't want to wait so long for them. Thanks!

this could happen at any airport, any airline, any day of the the week. There are so many variables it is impossible to predict how long it will take. I don't think this is something you can attribute to just one airline or airport.

If there is lightning within 3 miles of MCO Southwest doesn't allow anyone on the ramp. During that time Southwest will use a vehicle that will direct the pilots into the gate so that the jetway can be pulled up and the passengers can get off. So while the passengers can get off the aircraft when lightning is in the area the luggage will be on the aircraft until the rampers are allowed back onto the ramp. This situation could have been the reason for your 45 minute wait for bags.

No, haven't found any difference in SWA or Delta. By the time we deplane, stop at the restroom, and make our way to the baggage area, we have rarely waited more than 5-10 minutes at the most.
