SouthWest is offering 50K points Credit Card again

in my experience from the past few years you get the points when you have reached the spend amount, and the statement closing date. so you can pay if off earlier in the month, but you won't see the points till your closing date of whichever month you reached that amount (within the 90 days)

Is this deal still going on for the 50,000 points for the SW credit card? I went on the SW website, but could not find a link for it. I have been considering this card for a while and this seems like the perfect time if it is still on. thanks!

sorry I did just post. okay, I was able to find the deal, but I am wondering if it is only for the $99 premier card? I thought I read in a pp that it was $69. would it be worth it to pay more and what extra perks would that include?
Thanks again. sorry for the 2 posts

I signed up for the $69 card and 50,000 points. Look around on the website

I googled southwest credit card and found the place to apply for the $69 card. We applied for one in my name and 1 in my DH name.

If you click on the link on SW website, to get more info, the other cards are usually listed on the bottom of the page, and you can apply for the $69 card that way.

One of the differences is on the anniversary of opening the acct you will get 3000 point for the $69 card and 6000 for the $99.

We got the regular Southwest card in 2012 with the 50,000 mile promotion and have received many "free" flights from that (and all the other points we've accrued). We're going on an Alaskan cruise this summer and staying 2 nights in Vancouver prior to the cruise. I started researching credit cards that don't charge the foreign exchange fee and low and behold, the Premier Southwest card doesn't! So I applied for it and got another 50,000 points and now won't have to pay the customary 2-3% foreign exchange fee! :cool1: Now I just have to cancel the first Southwest card...

So if I get the Signature Card now and we later decide we want to go on a cruise, I could apply for the Platinum Card (hopefully when they are doing the 50,000 point bonus) and have both cards?

Yep! You'd just have to pay the annual fee on both if you wanted to keep them.

Thanks so much for all the info. Do I understand correctly that both my husband and I can apply for 2 separate cards? I thought it would only be one per household so was just going to get 2 cards on the same account so we could both charge on the same account. But, if we both get separate cards we could potentially end up with 100,000 points? Is that correct?

That is correct. Have done this a couple of times now.

DH and I just applied for 2 cards last saturday and were accepted. I'm waiting for the cards to come. We have a July trip booked and want to get flight when the open in a few weeks. We did ours online and took about 5mins.

I applied for DH & I separately last night. Both were approved. Waiting on our cards. :)

Applied last Fri. Got cards today.
I was wondering how I could put $2000 on the SW card during Jan/Feb when I also have to put $1500 on my Discover to qualify for a cashback promo there. :confused3

Well, lo and behold, while waiting for card to arrive, my mom finds out she needs a new roof and the roofer takes credit cards!!!

:thumbsup2 for us.... not so :thumbsup2 for mom.

So I tell mom about the bonus points and using my SW cc to pay the balance to the roofer and she says, "Then I'll just write a check to you?" [pause] "No, mom, the roof is on us! :rotfl: Yes, you just write a check to us instead of to the roofer." Love my mom!!

We applied last Saturday. I hope our card is there when I get home. DS tuition is due for school on Tues.

I opened my SW Visa account last year. DH and I flew R/T GRR to MCO for just under 18,000 points (total) and we now have about 46,000 points left. What happens to those points if I close the credit card? They are in my RR account so do I lose them?

I ask because we are flying to MCO again in October 2014 and again in May 2015. I'm thinking about closing the account and opening another one so that we can get another 50,000 points without having an additional credit card. I don't want to risk losing the points we already have though. Will this work?

I got the Southwest card to put my DD tuition for college on. It came the other day and I went to pay her bill yesterday, the college does not take Visa. I guess I will have to use it for everything I can to get my 2000 for my miles. Was disappointed , thought it had been a good plan.
