We were so busy at work yesterday I never got a chance to even see the original rates. Looked this morning and couldn't believe $148 EACH WAY!!! Bring on the sales and DING!!!

I got round trip in August from Providence yesterday for $152/pp nonstop...Just checked this morning and same flights are available, however, for $316/pp!! :sad2:

DING eventually would be nice, but I will remain happy with what we have paid...:rotfl: :rotfl:

maybe its because more people buy tickets on friday or something. i've heard somedays are cheaper to buy then others. or maybe there going to have a sale. i hope this isnt a sign for increase fares i love sw there the only reason i can fly is cause of there prices

Last Spring 2006, I waited for summer rates to be released every morning like we did this week. But when they finally released them they were very high like they are today. I for one looked at the rate and baulked and went to buy right away with the competitor. I have a feeling SW knows that a large group of their bookings consists of customers who is looking for a deal. Therefore they unofficially announced a release date and grabbed all our bookings. I was checking around yesterday afternoon for other trips and notice the rates went back up about 4pm just when the regular folks get off work.

Book 9 fares from Buf - Mco @ $59/way yesterday.....
today each way is $147!!!!
So glad I booked....

I wonder when they will open Sept and will the prices be high? I may just book with another airline. I can't take the chance.

How stupid can I be!

Yesterday I could have booked the 6 roundtrip tickets I need for August for under $800!

Any Southwest experts out there ever see this, the day they open the schedule release low rates, then immediately jack them up?

I may recollecting wrong, but I thought last year thay stayed at a moderate level for a long time for the Summer months, and didn't come down until very late. We booked at a $79 rate, then got a ding. That worked fine last year 'cuz we knew we'd be doing a lot of traveling this year, so having a bunch of "ticketless travel funds" was not a bad thing. This year things are definitely tighter, we can not have money "tied up" with travel. After our August trip we need to be on a travel hiatus.

I am just so mad at myself!!!!!

I booked yesterday for our August trip at $155/pp roundtrip. This morning it was $315/pp roundtrip for the same flight. For those of you booking for August I found last year the fares went down again in late March/early April for mid to late August.

Thank you, Darcy03231!

I plan to monitor daily. However, having that as a reference is wonderful.

I booked yesterday $109 each way per person from Providence to Orlando for August and today it's $148 each way PP.... whew! So glad I didn't hesitate!!!!

I booked yesterday from Chicago at an appalling $277 / ticket. Also couldn't use my free trip certificates for any reasonably timed flights. Today the same flights are an obscene $373 / ticket.

Even the dates that were previously released went up. I have been waiting for my flight next month to drop below $109 so I can rebook. Today the cheapest rate for all flights listed that week is $180 one way.

Yeah, this is crazy  . What the heck are they doing??? I'm over here trying to get a Ding and then the rates go way up. I would hate to think I should be happy with what I got at $207 RT.:crazy2: They were probably hoping that everyone waiting would jump all over the flights the first day. I think we need to wait it out.

I'm glad I read this thread. Even though my flight dates are not until 8/26 - 9/1, it helps to know that SWA prices are up in many markets. I may just start looking at other carriers and book now instead of stressing with SWA.

Booked 3 different trips for Orlando to Pittsburgh,May and June and the total for non-stop with taxes was $117 for roundtrip.:thumbsup2
