Southwest Help?

Ok, We got realy good fares through Southwest airlines when they had the 39.00 one way special and seven of us were going to make a trip in December, but one has decied that they will not fly now. We paid for all the tickets and I am not comfortable asking the person for the money, is there any way to get a new ticket in someone elses name or get a vouches from Southwest. If they do issue a voucher is it in the name of the perosn who paid or must it be in the name of the person flying. It was only 90.00 so if I loose it OK, but if I can recoop some and just get another ticket for myself at another time I would be happy. Anyone have any answers ?

Southwest will give you a credit in the name of the ticket holder. However, if I am not misstaken you can use this credit when you book an on line ticket so you could use the $90. Personally you are much nicer than I am, if they knew I was booking the ticket and then backed out I would make them pay.

I agree, make them pay up. That is so unfair to you to make you eat their ticket.

I just spoke with SWA about an upcoming flight and they told me that you can always use the $ toward another ticket...but it must be used within a year from when they were purchased. There is no reticketing fee. They also told me that anyone of my choice could use the credit. So you could use your friends $ toward another flight for yourself.

is their ticket on a separate "confirmation number"

if it is there should be no problem getting a credit for it ....that you can use at a later date...

if all 7 are on the "confirmation" number there might be a problem just "cancelling" their part of the reservation.....

when you cancel ....you use the confirmation number you got when you booked.....the "credit" then goes into an account attached to that "confirmation" ......when you rebook you can choose to use the "account" credit to pay for tickets.....

we did the abover when we found they had nonstops to orlando cheaper than what we had already booked for tampa.....orlando was non stop so it was a better idea to book orlando and give up the tampa via baltimore

a call to southwest might help too...

just hope you had individual bookings......then it will be much easier to cancel....

I called Southwest and they are giving me a full refund voucher. I was surprised, but they were great. They will either give the voucher to the person who made the reservation or the person who's ticket it is. It doent affect any of the other people on the trip, I check on line and we are all still there but the one person is gone. I guess I will have to squeeze another trip in before next year.
