has anyone flown on southwest from seattle to SNA with toddlers? i realize there is no direct flight from SEA to SNA...and i'm just wondering if it's worth the cheaper airfare to fly southwest or pay almost $325 more to fly direct on another carrier.

opinions/thoughts?

There are direct flights, maybe not with SW, though. Of the 4 (or 5, if you count Burbank) airports, though, SNA is the most expensive to fly into. You can fly into Long Beach, which is only a couple miles farther away, for much cheaper. There are direct flights from SEA to LGB for $186 round trip on Alaska and Jet Blue, depending on your dates.

There's not as much choice for flight times, but if you can work around that, LGB is much cheaper and still quite convenient. Car rental is easy from there, it's right at baggage claim. Shuttles cost more, though.

What's your dates?

i was looking at a quick trip on either 12/11 to 12/13 or 12/18 to 12/20. the only thing about LGB is that the disneyland resort bus does not go there, and that would be either renting a car or riding a shuttle...AND bringing 2 car seats...which i really rather not do. i know i can fly into either LAX or SNA, and catch the DL resort bus from there. just looking at dates/costs right now.

i think i've become a true DIS'er...i haven't even gone on my trip next month, and i am already trying to plan the next one after that! :thumbsup2

I was just looking this morning and there were direct flights from SEA to SNA on Oct 15-19 for $218 on Alaska. Which is down from 5 months ago

Since it's a quick trip, I'd opt for a direct flight into 'whatever' airport. Less time dealing with connecting flights = more time at DL. :thumbsup2

Be aware that "direct" and "nonstop" are not the same thing.

right, there is no NONSTOP flights on southwest from SEA to SNA. i'd really like to book the trip, but a part of me is saying to wait until we get back from october's trip...to ensure that we really want to go back in such a short period of time. i am already planning our trip for next year (looking at april/may or sept/oct timeframe), but the december one was just a thought i had late last night. i'm just afraid that if i wait until we get back in october that everything (flight and hotel) will be more expensive!!

Each year the residents of Alaska receive dividend checks. These checks are distributed each year in September/Oct. Alaska Airlines runs a special promotion, that anyone can take advantage of. The information below is from their web site.

Priced For Departure
2009 Permanent Fund Dividend Sale Is Underway
It's PFD Sale time again and Alaska Airlines is Priced for Departure. That means great deals for travel all the way through August 9, 2009.

Purchase your ticket by October 13, 2008, to take advantage of these great savings.

I don't have young children - I have an 11 year old son - and we had connecting flights through Southwest for our trip last March.

For next years trip, we opted to pay more and do a non-stop flight.

The connections were hard on us, and we felt it well worth it to pay more to get the perfect flights for us, and to not have to change planes.

We will get to DL quicker, plus won't have to deal with extra airports and layovers.

that's what i was thinking too...i think i'd rather pay a bit more to get their on a non-stop flight. it is cheaper to fly from SEA to LAX, but now i'm wondering how the disneyland resort express bus will be from LAX to DL. gonna post a new thread asking that...

Our airfare for 3 alone was almost $1200 from PDX to SNA. But to us, that is well worth it. Our 4 night vacation package, including hotel & transfers is just under $2000.

I would pay more to have less travel time with little ones. Having two flights is just torture. Especially when you end up spending 4+ hours traveling for what should be a 2 1/2 hour flight.

Hauling car seats is not fun, but you can get really good rates from SEA on JetBlue (often $79pp) into Long Beach. Might be worth the hassle of hauling the carseats for a direct cheap flight.
