I was just checking airfares to MCO and discovered that Southwest will start flying out of Portland, ME in April!!! Yippie, skippy! :yay: Right now, we make the 4 hour drive :drive: to Manchester, NH so we can fly Southwest. It's worth it, especially as we have points to use, but it adds a layer of complication (and sometimes an overnight hotel) to the travel plans. I've been hoping they'd take over Airtran at PWM instead of closing the base, and it looks like this is going to happen. This will cut 2 hours of driving time off the "journey" to get to a Southwest flight. HOORAY! :cheer2: party:

Have you been able to find flights online from Portland to Orlando? Wish they'd offer direct flights. I looked online on southwest.com but no luck.

It doesn't mean there will be non-stops to Orlando. From looking at the April schedule, they are one stops or connections. From what I read, the non-stop is to Baltimore.

I booked my return flight on Southwest yesterday for April 15. There are no direct flights but I won't have to get off the plane in BWI as it continues on to PWM. I paid $215.60 (late flight)

I purchased my flight down back in Aug. I am flying Airtran on April 11th. I paid $160.60 for that flight. (early flight)
Airtran discontinues service out of PWM. Last day is April 13th.
