Southwest free wifi

I had read that free wifi was coming to Southwest soon. Apparently free wifi is already enabled, at least on my flight today. Maybe a fluke, maybe a trial run, who knows, but enjoy.

It’s not free. There is still a catch. Only T-Mobile customers can use that WiFi. Everyone else still has to pay for it.

This is incorrect. It is free for all.

What's funny is that on the list of different levels of tickets (Basic, Choice, Choice Preferred, and Choice Extra) free wi-fi is listed as a benefit only for the people who pay for the top of the line, Choice Extra. But now Basic travelers get it?! (hope you realize I'm joking about being shocked).

the free Wi-Fi for Rapids Rewards Members is

*Available on WiFi-enabled designated aircraft for flights October 24, 2025, and later.

I would guess that at sometime closer to (or more likely on/after) that date, more details will be available.

Never works for me. Easy to offer it for free. Been flying Southwest for two decades

Like I said, maybe a fluke, maybe a trial run. I just opened a browser and my home page came up. Then I fired off this post while in flight. I didnt have to confirm my status or membership or anything.

Is it possible that you were sitting in one of those Choice Extra seats (you may not have bought it, maybe moved up at the gate from Basic) and your seat gets free wi-fi.
