Southwest flights/Ding codes?

I kinda feel silly asking this, but here goes.

Last year around this time, I was looking for cheap flights (from New Orleans to Orlando) and I found a DING for Southwest someone posted. I remember it being good for a few days and it was a great rate.

Well this year I have been looking, and waiting on a Ding fare to come up. I have the DING program installed on my computer at work, and I check daily when the dings come up. This is kind of a multi-faceted question. How can you get the ding codes without having DING installed? Also, are there ever Ding codes that are available for several days? The ones I see come up on my computer always end the same day. Am I missing something???

I’m getting nervous because our trip is Sept 12 through 19th. We actually got a great Ding rate around this time (or next week’s time) last year but like I said it was actually available for several days. I don’t understand why everything I’m seeing is only available that same day…not that I have a problem purchasing that day—but I’m worried I may miss a day checking b/c of being too busy.

Hope someone can help. TIA! :thumbsup2

(posted on the transportation board as well, so sorry if anyone sees it twice )

DING's can only be obtained if you have the program. I don't have it at work but I do at home so if I see someone report one I have to have DS19 at home go on my computer if I am at work.

Usually DING offers only last a few hours, I have never seen one last a week. They do have special web offers that can last a day or even a week. From St. Louis to MCO they had been running a deal for $72.00 that we were able to snag and I now have a $50.00 credit that I need to use by next March. Now same time period is $82.00. I have also seen is bounce around to $79.00 and $99.00 so you just have to keep watching.

The DING's for my area have been thru Sept 30th but none for MCO. As the PP stated, they did have a "sale" a couple of weeks ago for $79 each way. DING doesn't go much lower than that anyway (if at all) so I booked that.

thanks! yeah I noticed they just started going thru Sept 30th last week so I'm just praying something comes up! They are a little high right now.

After some more research it seems that code last year was a very special circumstance. I wasn't able to find anything like that for this year. But still, if anyone finds any sort of codes please post here. Thanks!

Southwest also has a SUPER GREAT "exchange" policy. If you find your fare cheaper with a Ding! (or better yet, a lower price Ding!) all you do is return your tickets (thru the web) and re-purchase them... We love doing this! We are going to WDW in December and have already purchased our R/T tickets when they had that "sale", although from all the way over in Portland Oregon ours were $99. If a Ding! comes up for our dates that is lower, we are able to get a credit that (I believe) can be used for up to a year. We are actually using a $40 credit from the previous time we flew SW back in March of this year. Gotta LUV SW!

I'm still waiting for Ding for the end of Sept so that I can bring 3 of us down instead of just the 2 of us.
