I know I have read about this on here but, our flights later this month are showing up cheaper today. Can I get a refund of the price difference? If so, how difficult is it and is it worth the hassle?

Also, I used the $20 discount code from mycokerewards, how will that effect the refund?

If you booked SW, check your dates! One of our flights was $211 and it is now $122.
TIA!

I don't know about the coke rewards but its super easy to go in and get a refund for your flights.

Just go to SW.com, manage flights, change flight and rebook the ones you already have. The difference will go onto your SW account for future flights (must be used within one year). Definitely worth the 5 mins it will take you to do it!

You should know, though, that you will not receive a refund. You will get a credit for a future flight that you must use within 1 year of the date you booked the original flight. This credit is good for airfare only. Unless, of course, you bought a refundable ticket.

Its worth the time... on my flights this month, I rebooked 3 times and saved over $300. I was planning to fly into Tampa and rent a car. Figuring I would not be able to use the credit before April, I changed to Orlando and saved myself the cost of car rental. It worked out perfectly.

Keep in mind a few things when rebooking with Southwest. Any order with Southwest can only use 4 methods of payments. So you can use at most 4 credits, and most likely 3 plus your CC to purchase tickets. Each time you rebook, it counts as a new credit. So even though you may rebook one flight 3 times saving $10 each time, that would count as 3 $10 credits and not 1 $30. Credits can only be applied to the person on the credit. And if you are booking 2 people at once, you are still limited to 4 methods of payment. So when using credits, you may do better off to book each person separately to make sure you can use the most credits possible at once.

I'll just echo what a couple of others have stated...........you MUST use the credit within one year of WHEN YOU BOOKED! I missed that fine print a couple of years ago and lost the credit I had.

So, I'm just trying to understand this...is it possible to purchase a flight (via cc) and then later rebook with points (which haven't been earned yet) and have the money refunded? Or would the money paid be refunded as credit towards the next flight?

Use and fly? For example, I have a $100 credit that expires in May. I cannot book a flight in April and use this credit to book a flight for August? Even if I book it before the expiration date, the flight also has to take place before the expiration date, correct? Thanks

Yes, booked and used by the expiration date.

You would not get a refund to your CC. You could cancel and book with points but the cash will be held as a SW credit subject to the restrictions.

I've gotten credit twice for flights and then never found a way to use it before the year was up. So, basically, I paid the original price. Make sure you have a way to use up the credit before it's gone. (and the credit is 1 year from when you first bought your tickets, not when you made the change).

With the sale they are having now I got a $70 credit for a one way flight and a lot of points back for other flights. Since I have several trips in the next few months I canceled one of the flights I had booked on points and re-booked with cash so I wouldn't lose the $70 credit, since the points don't expire. One important thing to know is if you book with a credit and have to cancle, the new credit will have the same expiration as the original credit.
