Does anyone know if Southwest requires a doctor note to carry a epi pen on board? My son's allergy dr said this may be required.

Better safe that sorry. I'd also pack it in a clear plastic bag to get around the TSA regulations.

We just got back and carried 2 epi's with us - my 6.5yo wears one in an epi belt around his waist and I carry his spare one in my purse. I did have a letter from the dr saying he had to have it due to severe allergies but all security did was have a quick look at them and his medic alert bracelet and let us through with no problem. They never asked to see the letter at all.

We've never been asked on any airline. DS has to carry 3-4 Epipens on him, but at least one has the script label on it. That is usually sufficient as it is with other meds.

Thanks for your help. I am worried about flying with his peanut allergy. I might contact Southwest to see if they allow preboarding so I could wipe down his arm rests and tray. He has never had a reaction from touch, but I wouldn't want the first one to be on a airplane.
