Can someone tell me, I have never flown SW, but my niece and her daughter ( she is 5) and her hubby, are flying down to meet us in FL over March break! THey didn't know about paying for Early Bird check in, I have never used them, so wasnt' sure what I should tell them! They have a flight from Detroit on March 10th leaving at 9 in the morning, with 1 stop (changing planes in Chicago) then 1 more stop after that, not sure where, but now change, should they get EBCI? Thanks in advance!

If they are able to check in right at the 24 hour mark then I don't think there would be a need for the EBCI. When you check in it will check you in for all connecting flights as well so they will actually be checking in before the 24 hour mark for the Chicago flight where they change planes. For the other stop if they don't change planes then they won't be able to leave. Once everyone gets off they will take a head count and then allow you to move to a better seat if you want before they start boarding the new passengers.

We traveled a couple weeks ago on SW, family of 5, and we had high A's and low B's for our boarding passes and we had absolutely no problem getting seats all together.

Sorry to hijack, but I paid for Early Bird check in for a May flight, and now I can't find on the web site what it means. Any help would be appreciated.

With EBCI SWA will check you in automatically and assign your boarding numbers 36 hours before your flight and you can view/print your boarding cards 24 hours before the flight. Without EBCI the earliest you can check in and get your boarding numbers assigned is 24 hours before the flight.
