Southwest/Disney luggage

I guess I was a bit confused because I go to the counter to hand my bags off....
And before they always did give you your boarding pass and luggage tags in the envelop outside your door.
I understand they can't change your reservation.
The new service is a little different in operation.

Some airlines, some airports offer bag drop. The passenger is already checked and paid for luggage. The new service operates like a bag drop. The agent weighs the bag, gets it tagged and takes it.

I'm staying at Pop Century later this month and flying SW. My flight is 12:20pm, so I would have to drop it off the night before. I'm probably not going to do it, I'll use curbside at the airport.

That's strange. We just booked an additional ticket for an upcoming trip for my BIL and it asked us if he was checking a bag, we indicated one and we were able to pay for it.
We booked right at the swap over to having to pay for bags.

Not the end of the world....Curbside, many SW airports, was done by SW employees. SW is outsourcing the service. Some locations it's now a pay AND tip service.

Bumping this thread. Didn’t realize there was no way to pay for bags in the app (and wasn’t prompted when I booked, either). Booked shortly after the changeover. Anyone have any insights or are we stuck dragging our bags to the airport?

Wish I knew how badly they’d botch this rollout before I booked Southwest and decided to skip a rental car.

From Southwest, you’re dragging them to the airport. Link

How do I pay the baggage fees?

You can check your bags and pay applicable baggage fees at the airport using our self-tagging kiosks (where available) or with a Southwest® Agent at the ticket counter.

ETA- I would drop a note to Disney. Requiring bags be pre-paid and then limiting the luggage service to a company that doesn’t allow pre-payments is definitely a frustrating moment.

That is a most intriguing update. This whole experiment is going to come to a rather quick conclusion with more and more WN guests unable to check their bags as time goes on.

In other words you pay when the baggage tags are printed at a kiosk or by an agent.

Logic suggests you'll be able to pay when the luggage tags are printed at the resort. Logic suggests the pilot program at Disney value resorts is too small to be known by SW agents.

Someone needs to ask at the resort.
