I think I have downloaded the Ding program to my computer correctly (I think). There is the SW tail icon on my task bar. The Ding window pops up however when I click on details I get a message 'page can not be found'. The same message happens when I click on any of the links (southwest, rewards, etc) from the Ding window. I am operating Windows XP via AOL.

TIA

I have AOL and Ding works fine on my computer. Have you tried right clicking on the icon on the task bar and click on "connect now"?

Hope that helps.

Ditto what rayjess suggested. This is what I do and it always comes up within a few seconds.

No
:confused3

Connection now is greyed out.
There is the 'Ready' status on the bottom left on the Ding window.
When clicking on details getting page not found; the following web adress

"http://"http://www.southwest.com/cgi-bin/systray?action=getHeadlineDetail&installId=4253937224835021&cksum=4496078927759935&headlineId=941293&src=sta_offer_941293",,-1,0,,,,"

I don't know what could be wrong. My computer is running AOL and Windows XP too. Maybe you should go to add/remove programs and remove Ding and then try to install again.

Hope you get it working. It is nice getting Ding.

It may be your router. I have problems with mine and can never get the Ding fares either. I have loaded and unloaded DING so many times I have just given up.

but what is a Ding? Is it just an alert that cheap airfare is available in your area? Are they different rates than what are published on SWA website?

Thanks

Question 29 may apply to you. I had to follow the link in Question 30 to tell Norton Security to allow the pop ups from southwest.com.

To the last poster: Southwest Ding fares are different (sometimes cheaper) than the other fares on the regular web site. You can only access them from Ding.

Still no luck
:badpc:
I have uninstalled and installed Ding a couple of times.
On AOL I had blocked all pop-up. I have turned pop-ups off and to allow pop ups for just southwest.com only.
I have McAfee virus protection; without firewall (I think)
Any other suggestions?

Sorry, my technical expertise has been exhausted. Try looking for a DING help number on the web site?

I have been trying to get my ding to work for weeks now, nothing happened when I clicked the link to go the SW site through Ding!
Afraid I was going to miss out on something good, I finally called Dell Tech Support....he walked me through un-installing/ re-installing Internet Explorer, and voila! It works now. Hope that helps someone else....

Did you disconnect from the internet while you were uninstalling DING? There is some discussion on this board and flyertalk that this may be a required step to get the next installation to work. Either unplug your cable, hang up your phone, or disable your internet connection in the tray. Once you finish uninstalling you can reconnect.

I only use AOL as a backup if I'm traveling or my cable is out so I'm not really up to date on some of their features but I thought AOL now provided a firewall. WinXP also has a firewall so you should check to see if it's enabled. You want to keep your firewall! Just add SW as allowable. As for pop-up blockers, I think you also need to allow ding.southwest.com.

I have had to run Ding using an admin account on my work computer and laptop. I am not sure what our network guys did but I had to find a work around.
