Hurry and book your flights now before the good ones fill up!

Does anyone know if they usually open up more Wanna Getaway fares? We are looking for flights the Sunday after thanksgiving and there were NO wanna getaway fares when I looked at 6AM. My friend is looking at a different set of flights for the same day and had the same issues. Saw asking about 3X what I would expect to pay on a "normal" week, which I'm not going to pay (I was expecting a premium, but not that much). Any idea if/when they might open up the Wanna Getaway rates?

I have been watching the rates for our October trip for months and they have not come down. The December flights were similarly priced. I checked kayak.com for flights from my local airport on other airlines flying to MCO. The recommendation on kayak is to buy now. Rates are expected to go up in the next 7 days. The recommendation comes with 79% confidence in their prediction.I priced the mid-Dec week we plan to go to WDW. Flights are $126 higher RT PER PERSON than we paid last year. Wow! Have flights really gone up that much? I sure hope they come down a bit in prices![]()

An aside question then - why did flight times change for November-December? I've flown SW/AT in March, end of April, end of May, and mid October, and flight times (nonstop) were always "around" the same times. Now today, I found that the 11:00 flight I was thinking of was gone, instead I could choose from 9:00 or 12:50. And the latest evening flight was 6pm rather than 7:45, so we working on adding another day to our trip. Why did that happen? Is that normal?

Have you checked other airlines to see what they are charging for the same flight? SWA is going to charge whatever the market will bear. You have to understand that the price may be artificially high in order to direct customers toward less-desirable flights on Saturday and Monday that might not fill up otherwise. They know that the Sunday flights will eventually fill up, regardless of the high price. Thanksgiving is the most-traveled period in the calendar year. Airfare is naturally going to be high for that weekend.I am looking for a flight on SW from MCO to DEN on the Sunday after Thanksgiving an the flight is over $500 one way! Really???? I knew it would be a little more but this is ridiculous!
