Hurry and book your flights now before the good ones fill up! :cool1:

Does anyone know if they usually open up more Wanna Getaway fares? We are looking for flights the Sunday after thanksgiving and there were NO wanna getaway fares when I looked at 6AM. My friend is looking at a different set of flights for the same day and had the same issues. Saw asking about 3X what I would expect to pay on a "normal" week, which I'm not going to pay (I was expecting a premium, but not that much). Any idea if/when they might open up the Wanna Getaway rates?

They probably won't. The cheap seats are already gone. What flight specifically are you looking at? I work for SWA and that's the busiest flight weekend of the year and they know people pay the higher prices

I priced the mid-Dec week we plan to go to WDW. Flights are $126 higher RT PER PERSON than we paid last year. Wow! Have flights really gone up that much? I sure hope they come down a bit in prices :scared:

An aside question then - why did flight times change for November-December? I've flown SW/AT in March, end of April, end of May, and mid October, and flight times (nonstop) were always "around" the same times. Now today, I found that the 11:00 flight I was thinking of was gone, instead I could choose from 9:00 or 12:50. And the latest evening flight was 6pm rather than 7:45, so we working on adding another day to our trip. Why did that happen? Is that normal?

Prices for me aren't THAT bad - I was hoping for $125 one-way and got $141 - I booked my departure flight because I NEED that 9:00 as I really had no other choice and didn't want to risk not having seats. SW/AT is the only airline that flies nonstop for us.

I have been watching the rates for our October trip for months and they have not come down. The December flights were similarly priced. I checked kayak.com for flights from my local airport on other airlines flying to MCO. The recommendation on kayak is to buy now. Rates are expected to go up in the next 7 days. The recommendation comes with 79% confidence in their prediction.

Flights are running higher by about $100 per RT when compared to what they were for me last year during the same times.

I'm wondering if they even were offered, I have about 6-8 flights a day to choose from and not one of them had a Wanna Get Away at 6AM when I looked, it seems odd that they would all have booked up that quickly, so I'm guessing its a blackout date.

But $450+ one-way from FL to Texas is not going to happen... that is more than we usually pay roundtrip for our holiday flights and over 3x what a similar flight would cost on a "normal" day (outbound flights were just under $150..which is a bit higher than I like to pay, but in the right ballpark at least)

We booked round trip from Minneapolis for $292 a person I was hoping for $250 or lower but the seats seemed to be selling fast, so we felt we had to jump on it.

I don't know how normal it is but I also did notice the flight times changed. I had picked out our flights and the times were perfect. Now, it's all messed up and I have to rethink everything.

I am looking at flight for November and there are 2 flights back. Both have a layover and one is only 25 min at TPA. Why in the world would they only give you 25 minutes to change planes? I'm using points and a companion pass and the point values are a little more than the same flight in October. We were also thinking about after Christmas for the same trip and forget that! The point value with a WGA flight is 2.5 times the amount and one day there aren't any WGA flights.

I booked yesterday for our December trip. I got $109 each way non-stop from Long Island, NY. I got the times I wanted--first flight in the am for our flight down and the last flight out coming home. I am very pleased.

Hope the rates come down for you.

The exact same thing happened last year for that day. We were supposed to fly TO Orl the Sunday after and ended up going the night before because there were no Wanna Getaway fares.

The flight I wanted Wanna Get Away is all sold out too, Albany 6:55AM nonstop, I would hate to arrive so late at 5pm but I don't want to risk that flights WGA seats selling out too

I am looking for a flight on SW from MCO to DEN on the Sunday after Thanksgiving an the flight is over $500 one way! Really???? I knew it would be a little more but this is ridiculous!

Have you checked other airlines to see what they are charging for the same flight? SWA is going to charge whatever the market will bear. You have to understand that the price may be artificially high in order to direct customers toward less-desirable flights on Saturday and Monday that might not fill up otherwise. They know that the Sunday flights will eventually fill up, regardless of the high price. Thanksgiving is the most-traveled period in the calendar year. Airfare is naturally going to be high for that weekend.

We are looking for tickets from MDW on 12/28 - 1/4. I was shocked when the prices were $631 per ticket! We have never paid this much. I expected to pay over $300 but not double that. I'm resorting to checking every day to see if the price drops. Hope that since our trip is at the end of the booking period that the price will go down. :confused3

We are flying in December and also coming from Denver. Our flights are SOOOO high compared to what we have paid in the past. I am just shocked. We always fly SW but Delta is actually much cheaper. Gotta travel through Atlanta though :worried: But the price for a RT is about $150 less per person than SW.

I was bummed when I saw that SW changed their one non-stop flight out of my airport from 7 AM departure to 12:45 PM departure. I'm losing most of one of my park days. :( However, my husband hates to fly so I'll go with the non-stop. The price was better than when we flew to Disney in 2012, too.

Anyone know when they will open more dates??
Looking to book flights later in January....
