Can you request a credit for a portion of your trip or does it need to be your full return price. The inbound price went up by $20 and the outbound price decreased by $30. Can I just request an adjustment for the outbound portion of the ticket?

You log in and 'change' your flight. You will be changing from the flight you have purchased to the lower priced flight even if that's the same one. This will give you a credit to use for future travel and is valid for one year from the date of original purchase.

When you go to change your flight, you get an option of what flight you want to change (either the inbound or outbound one). You would just select the outbound one and then get that credit.

As KT0191 said you just select the outbound flight. I used to book 2 one way trips for this very reason but then found out it wasn't necessary.
