Southwest credit question

Hi everyone, I hope you guys can help me out!

I just changed my Southwest flight in November to WDW to an earlier time that same day, and it turns out, that flight was much cheaper than the one we had originally booked. It said we had $136 in credit, and it could be applied to a future flight.

My question is, how do you use that credit? Where do you even see that you have it? My DH paid for the flights with his credit card, so I made him an account there and got him a rapid rewards # and everything...I logged him in and checked everything I could think of to see where this $136 credit would be hiding, and I can't find it anywhere! :confused3

If anyone knows, I'd really appreciate it! I'd like to have it available for next year, if we go to WDW again!

The way it works is when you go to purchase a new ticket and your at the point where you are entering the passenger names and filling in the billing information there's a section called "Add Funds."

In that section you can add the funds from the previous booking that you had credits for. You will need the confirmation number and the first passenger's name to use the credits.

At the Southwest website, got to Travel Tools in the upper right hand area, and select Travel Fund Balance. Put in your confirmation number where you have the credit, and name of someone on the reservation, and you will see the balance and expiration date for the funds.

Thanks guys, I knew the Transportation board would know! :goodvibes

just be aware the way these funds can be used will change in February 2011

...after that date, the funds can only be used for the "person(s)" the confirmation was originally booked for...

the present rules allow you to consign the "credit" to anyone as long as they have your confirmation # and name associated with it ( this has been one of the best perks that SW has allowed but now will disappear, probably due to "abuse" by some....eg selling credits on ebay )

The credits we had last year expired within a year of placing the original booking and the travel to use them has to be completed before the expiration date.

Hope this helps.:cloud9:

SW lets you extend the expiration of the cedits by another 6 months for a fee (they reduce the credit by the amount of the fee)- you have to call the day after they expire to do this. I don't know if this is another thing that will change to with the new rules.
