Thanks to those who posted that Southwest's flights have dropped on some of their flights...
I checked ours and they did go down significantly!
Now I have a credit...I can use them for future flights, but my big question is....does anyone know if I can use the credit for rental car if I book it through Southwest??????
I would love to know if anyone has the answer!
Thanks!

No, you can't. Somebody posted a similar question recently - well, about using the credit for Southwest Vacations, then found the answer on their own and very considerately responded to their own post! :)

Anyway, no, Southwest credits can only be used for Southwest flights, travel to be completed within one year of the original purchase. People have reported being able to get a six-month extension by calling, but there are restrictions (the specifics of which I am not aware)

I just went online to check my sister's flights and they went down about $100 each. What is the process for rebooking? Can you do it online or do you have to call?

If it is not a Ding you can go online and change itenarary (sp?). Then, if the flights are available, just change them. It is very obvious when you get to the change page.

To continue what the above poster said, you will get the credit on your receipt for the changed flights when you print it out. It will also be on the e-mail that you receive.

All done...that was easy. This is our first time flying Southwest. Just saved my sister $325.00. How do you apply the credit to your next flight?

If you didn't change anything you can get a credit on your credit card.

Call customer service and have them put your credit back on your card.

Gotta love SWA....

I tried to do this, but it depends on what kind of flight you bookd. I booked an internet special, therefore the CS rep. told me it could only be applied as credit only....I even called back to talk with someone different and they told me the same thing.

When you get to the Purchase page, the second section down (below where you put in your name) has a box you can click to "Apply Electronic Travel Funds", which includes Ticketless TravelSM Funds
from an unused or cancelled reservation.
That's as far as I explored, since I don't have any credit on Southwest :)

One tip: For all/any future Southwest tickets, purchase each direction separately. Southwest actually only sells one-way fares, so there's no penalty - like there might be on other airlines - and if a lower fare, especially a Ding fare, comes out later, it's easier to make changes/get credit.

That's all I ever book. I call the non 800 number and request a refund. They have done it as long as there were no changes in flight or date. If you make a change that is when they have issued a credit.

Maybe I'm just lucky.
