What are the chances SW will turn my credit into a refund? I have a $384 credit that I will not be able to use due to pregnancy (due in oct...credit has to be used by january). I know they will give back tax back but what are the chances they will take sympathy on me?? Has anybody else had any experience with this?

I don't have any experience, but I remember reading posts about people who were able to get the money credited back to their credit cards. From what I remember about the posts if you aren't satisfied with the response from the customer service rep simply try back later until you get your credit. Good luck and keep us posted. I have a $30.00 credit that I'm hoping to use soon or request a refund on too. PS Congrats on the baby. My youngest was born in October!

If you bought non refundable tickets, they will not give you a credit to your credit card. I tried and they refused.

If they will not give you a refund, maybe you can talk them into an extension of the time period to use your credit. Just a thought.

I had a somewhat similar problem with a $90 credit. It expired as of February 2006 and I was not able to use it before then. My DH called Southwest about a possible extension and customer service agreed to send out a voucher that would be good until August 2006. Two problems with this arrangement. The voucher can only be used to purchase tickets at the airport (not online) and it can only be used by the person whose name appears on the voucher. My DH had the voucher sent to me so I am the only person who can use it and I can't transfer it. Plus driving to the Philly airport to redeem it for tickets is such an inconvenience that I probably will end up not using the voucher.

I have seen quite a few auctions on ebay for credit/vouchers. Usually it is about 80-90% of the worth.

Just a thought

I had a similar situation. Got a voucher for 100 dollars for lost luggage. I found out later out I could only redeem it at the airport which was very inconvenient not to mention more expensive vs booking on the internet.
I called SW and was told if I fly prior to my voucher expiration I could send in the voucher along with my itinerary after travel was completed. I did it and a credit was given on my CC about 6 weeks later. If you call SW they can give you the refund address. Hope this works out for you!

Yes, they won't issue a credit to your credit card and yes, they will grant you an extension for 6 months in the form of a voucher. However, you can look at the voucher as a rebate.

You can still use by tickets online, DING, whatever is the bext option for you or your family. The drawback is that you have to pay your trip upfront and once the tirp is over send the voucher along with your confirmation to Southwest and they will issue a credit back your credit card. Also, in my experience, their turnaround time is very fast. Usually within 2 weeks.
Just make sure to make copies or send it certified.

This was my exact expierence. I had $300 of credit expiring (and was pregnant too), they extened it 6 months, we traveled...paid upfront with the SAME credit card initial travel was purchased with. Upon return, I called and they put the $300 credit on my credit card.

Good luck & congrats!

For the people with vouchers ... we had a $50 voucher for a damaged bag. I was able to book online (Ding! fare) and then after the trip I sent my voucher and the itinerary to SWA. They credited my credit card the amount of the voucher. I read about it here on the DIS. You may want to check with customer service.

So are the credits/vouchers transferable? I purchased 5 tickets for my DD's and their friends, if there is a further discount wouldn't they be the only ones eligible for the future credit?

Thanks for the info on the vouchers. We have a trip booked for May. When we return I will send in the voucher with our itinerary and hope that SWA credits our CC.

If you don't have any success with refunds let me know. I am planning a trip in June and October and would consider purchasing the credit from you.
