SouthWest Check in and connecting flight

This will be our first connecting flight ever. We leave Grand Rapids International and fly to BWI with a 1 hour 10 min connection time and a plane change. We will staying on SW, will this be enough time? When we check in at the 24 hour mark, will we be assigned the boarding position for GRR and BWI? I am not worried about GRR and early bird check in but I am more concerned with BWI. Our kids are 14,11, and 7. Should I be worried about BWI? Thanks for any advice

All the SW gates at BWI are in the same area it is plenty of time.

You will get boarding passes for both flights when you check in.

I agree, that's plenty of time to connect at BWI. However, if your connecting flight does not originate at BWI, then there will already be passengers on the plane when you board, limiting your seat selection.

Not really unless you pay attention to the comings and goings and gates of flights before you go but even then it's not an exact science.
