Southwest CC offer for 2 roundtrip flights

Just got the points in my account so did not have to wait too long.

Question: To get the companion pass, do you have to get to 110000 points in a calendar year? I have 104000 points but some of the points are over 18 months old.

Pretty sure it's Calendar year, when you log in it should tell you how many miles you have towards companion pass status.

If I'm understanding this right, if you have to earn the miles in a calendar year, does that mean I only have until Dec. 31 to accumulate those miles? I just got my 50,000 points last month, so if that's true, I probably should have waited until first of next year to take advantage of that credit card offer. Then I would have had 12 months to accumulate enough points. Or am I not understanding it correctly?

yes,it's within one calendar year:thumbsup2 applying can be a timing thing if you want that pass....

After reading the posts on this board I opened 2 southwest cards this year (the $99 and $69 annual fee cards) and received 50,000 points for each one, and was able to get the extra 10,000 miles in order to get the companion pass. I was able to use their links for online shopping to earn miles, and tied it to our car rentals to earn miles that counted towards our companion status. My billing cycle had just closed and I earned the pass. This is going to save a ton of money for us, as we will be able to travel much cheaper. I am so excited!!!!

You should be...it is the BEST thing ever..... we have been able to travel this past 2 years to places I never would have dreamed using the CP.....

What about A-List status? I'm a little confused by this, but do points from the SW credit card go towards this as well?

So I am reading all this, I applied yesterday, after sadly learning my delta card no longer offers 99$ comp ticket . (Will be canceling that soon and I have always flown delta.)
It looks like just by applying / spending 2k you get A list, and to get to free wifi you need to spend 18k correct? I wish I applied months ago, I don't think I can get enough by end of yr :(.

If dh applies it would be his own points right? Not. Possible to add my # correct?

I might just wait and have him apply when we run out of points it looks like 50k will get us nearly 2 trips in .

1 more question. What is the % = to in dollars. It looks like 1$ = 1 point and 1 120$ ticket costs 6500$ to redeem, so is this correct (assumptions all the same) . The actually value is 1.8%. Worth of rewards.

If do this is actually better than my Amex blue which is 1% for almost anything except gas. (It says 2+ 3 but almost always gives 1 as most groceries are from Walmart or amazon).

Is this good math rewards are Aprox. 1.8% ?

When I did the math, it came out to 1.67%, so about the same!

Could someone please clarify whether it is possible to be credited the 50,000 point bonus prior to your credit card statement cutting?

I am approaching $2,000 in spending and would love to earn the bonus prior to my statement cutting (so I can book my flight sooner and not risk the flight being sold out).

Thanks in advance!
Ryan

Sorry they post the day of or the day after your period closes.

Just one word of advice for anyone interested in the companion pass, if you just applied for a card, drag out your spending for the entire 3 months so your 50,000 points doesn't post until January. That will count as 2014 points. Then apply for another card in the spring. (we did the basic $69 card first, then the $99 second)

Just by happenstance, this happened to DH and when I realized his points didn't get posted until Jan 7, 2013, I had him apply for another card in March, so those 50,000 also counted towards 2013 also. We spent $10k over those few months and he got companion status by June which is good for the rest of this year and all of next year.

Can someone clarify for me what I need to do to get the Companion pass....

I have a southwest card in MY name, earned the 50,000 points back in May. Traveled and I have about 1,300 points in my account.

My HUSBAND just opened a card and we spend the required amount so he'll get his 50,000 points

Can we combine ours? I saw there was a transfer points option or can I add my RR # to his credit card account?

I'll either buy the extra points with the 500 pt bonus or do some spending to get up to the CP level if we can combine.

If you want to get your points sooner you can login to your account and pay online prior to your due date. As soon as you spend 2K and pay for it, you will have your points.

OKay I just did this, with the AGD promo (found on this board).. (the free 50000 miles) ROTFL .. NOw to see count the days until i book the Disney cruise, (using DVC points I learned about here) and check free air..

Fingers crossed.. I LOVE DIS!

I just wanted to post, They waited until the day after my billing to post. I had the funds spent and paid about 6 days into the cycle, and it waited the full amount until next bill posted and then points were next bus day.

I got both the Plus and Premier card and as of last night I earned the companion pass thanks to the 50,000 bonus points each and the 1800flowers bonus x2 and my regular spending! I wish now I would have waited for the bonus points to credit next year so I could get 2 years out of it, but I'm not complaining! DF did the same thing but we are waiting to spend the last of the $2k until this month so the bonus points don't credit until January. I may do a couple 1800flowers orders using his RR# at the end of the month to get those extra 1750 points for each order.
