My daughter is staying in Florida a few extra days with friends near Sarasota. She wants to fly from there so I need to cancel her southwest ticket. I bought a non-refundable ticket. Can these funds only be used for another ticket for her?

Can't find the answer on the SW site.

Yes. Credits from changed or cancelled tickets only can be used for travel by the passenger named on the original ticket. Also, any credits must be used for travel completed no later than one year after the date the original tickets were purchased. You can extend the life of the credits for another six months once they expire (not before) and those credits can then be used by anyone, but there is a fee ($100 I think?) for extending the life of the credit.

The good thing is there is not cancelation fee!. She must use the funds and complete her travel one year from the date it was purchased.

For example

If the ticket you are canceling was purchased on July 12, 2013 in order to use that credit she has to complete her travel by July 12, 2014. Her return ticket must be no later that July 12, 2014 in order to use those fund.

Thanks. We are looking into her flying from Fort Myers so I can exchange the ticket. Not sure she will be traveling again before 8/26/14, one year from when I bought the ticket.
