Anyone know the cancellation penalties w/Southwest??
Might have to cancel a flt...and never have before?

Hmmmm ... good question as there doesn't seem to be an answer on their website. It may depend on the type of ticket you purchased. I think we got their "web special" fares and recall seeing someting about them not being refundable.

If you have the nonrefundable fares, they will just hold as "ticketless travel funds" which you will have a year from the date you booked your trip to use. Some have had luck calling and getting a refund to their credit cards, so it wouldn't hurt to try. There are no penalties to cancel.

This is correct!:thumbsup2

If you have nonrefundable fares and cancel, the money goes into a Southwest travel fund (it's just like having a credit with Southwest), which you can use to book other flights to wherever Southwest flies. However, as slruud said, you have a year from the date you booked your original flight to use the funds. If you don't use the funds within that time, then bye-bye money.

You won't have to pay any penalties.:cool1:

If you find you are unable to use the SW credit within the 1 year you can sell it or give it to someone else. There are no names attached to the credit, just a number.

another reason I am starting to like Southwest more and more.
