Southwest, can you book your seats now ?

SW does not do assigned seating.

At midnight the day before you may print your boarding pass. Boarding passes are A, B and C. They board in order, A, B and C. You get on and take any available seat.

thanks, ddad said sw was now taking seat assignments, i didnt think so, i have to book him a flight but only on flights that he already has a seat, he needs a front and aisle seat. ;)

Just a fair warning. Keep watching your seats.

WHen you buy a ticket you are not guranteed the seat you book. There have been lots of posts on here where Delta, Song, NW, CO etc.. moved someones seats.
Plus front of the plane seats are often reserved for Frequent flyers. I know on Delta the first few rows are frequent flyer.

CarolA is correct. This past Saturday we were flying home on NWA and our friend was flying home on Delta. In Atlanta, they overbooked the Delta flight and had to bring in a different plane. ALL the seat assignments were redone at the gate.

I won't even go into the sheer horror that happened when ATA switched over to online check in. I lost count of the times they screwed up our "assigned" seats. Even though we were Elite members, they often were NOT helpful.
With Southwest, if you print out an A boarding pass early and get to the airport early enough to be one of the first in the A line, you probably have a better chance of getting what you want than some of the so-called "assignments."

It has gotten to the point that whenever I fly any airline other than SWA, I look at my seat assignment as nothing more than a "suggestion".

I'll be on a SWA flights tomorrow morning and on Saturday. I am not even going to stress about staying up and printing my boarding pass at midnight.
