Southwest Booking

just a really expensive time of year to fly period.

Where are you flying from with SW? Just curious. It has to be your area.

Because I'm going down in that time and just bought $114 each way direct flights - great times. Not expensive at all. I'm not on your exact dates - so I would be a bit lower - but the 26th is still low at two of my airports.

I'm not trying to say look here. I'm just frustrated for you.

We are flying from the West Coast in CA and it is about $2600 for the 4 of us. Still trying to decide. I doubt the flights will sell out at those prices.

Got my flights booked! I got on the SW website around 5:55AM their time (3:55AM here!) and the schedule was already open! Eek! I was booking reward travel, which, when I called and asked back in MARCH, was told there were no black out dates (I'm traveling to MCO over Thanksgiving weekend). Well, guess what - My travel date of Saturday was, indeed, BLACKED OUT. Ugh. So, my vacation just got extended a day. I'm flying out on Friday (day after Thanksgiving- ugh) and will stay the first night at AoA (my first onsite stay) and then I'll transfer over to Bonnet Creek the next day. While it added an extra expense that I hadn't planned on, I'm kinda excited to stay "on property" even if it is for just one night! LOL

We got flights for Dec 25 to Jan 3 for $1,600 for 4 people, exactly our budget! I'm just glad the times were reasonable. I was hoping to pay less, but oh well. Still doing the happy dance!:cool1:

well, i'd fly them again, but probably not within that exact years time from the time of booking, which would be now, maybe from when the flight is, which is december. plus, if i buy for myself and my daughter, she and a friend cannot use those credits, is that right? she and i wouldn't be flying until the next dec at earliest, again. she will be flying in march of '13 but i don't think they could use the credits, right? i thought they used to be transferable but are not anymore, based on posts i read last year, here. this will only be my second time flying sw.

I didn't see if anyone answered this, but yes, your daughter should be able to use your credits. All you need at booking is the confirmation number the credit is "attached to". My husband had a bunch of cancelled flights for work and I have used some of them to book flights, the most recent being for a flight I'm taking next month. If the flights are "registered" to your Rapid Rewards number, YOU may have to log into your Rapid Rewards and book the flight FOR her (I also booked one this way for my mother using one of my husband's canceled flight credits).

Also, when I was looking at earlier dates it was $1500 for the 4 of us. So, I was expecting something closer to $2000 for the holiday season. Right now it is the only time we can fly due high school schedules. I kinda planned this trip last minute so, I would have used another airline because they tend to be cheaper especially when we come from the West Coast. Had I booked this trip a year out or thought about it then, I would have gotten a better price through another airlines. So, a little bummed but what can you do.

I don't know how you did that because we have credit as well...I'm trying to book using some remaining credit I have in my name for my children and it wont let me. This is what I get:
The name attached to this fund must match the name above. Please edit the Passenger Name and click Retry.
:confused3

Crossing my fingers for you. :goodvibes

Thanks!! Well, I booked it. We decided the other flight even though cheaper the 2 layovers would make for a long day and it would be red-eye going arriving at 1 pm. SW arrives at 3:30 and only one layover. I didn't think it was worth it.

I can't remember if you said it or not but one of the flights going to sold out so, I guess, people are willing to pay.

Hopefully, the price will go down so, I can get a better deal.

So, how do I do a price adjustment? Do I call when I see a lower price?

I have never flown SW because I love Airtran. I booked our Airtran flights for Nov 28-Dec 12 today, MKE to MCO. Prices were reasonable at $158 each way and I will upgrade to business using A+reward credits. We LOVE the business class seating.

I checked the SW flights for MKE to MCO and they are actually cheaper than Airtran BUT the times are wacky for the flights. I'm sticking with Airtran for now, but I was still happy to see that in the future when Airtran is no longer, I should be able to get cheap flights on SW, too. No business class and wacky flight times, but at least I should still be able to get to MCO for reasonable cost.

I also was booking my sister and niece from MSP to MCO on the same trip with us. Airtran has eliminated the nonstop flights from MSP so I checked Delta and found decent flights for them. Luckily I remembered SW before I booked. The flights available to them on SW are cheaper than Delta and at good times for MSP to MCO. I booked them on SW! They will be the first in the family to fly SW. I booked early bird seating for them, too. I'll be curious to see how they like SW as I know I will be flying with them in the future.

We are SWA for Christmas every year, we DCL.

This year it was very reasonable.. 300 round trip from STL to MCO...

Last year they started out $700.. ***...

So we are booked.. and ready to travel....

I just booked from Chicago to Orlando on SWA and I thought I'd get in on a good price because usually on the day they open flights they are the cheapest...but on November 10 was reasonable (but more than I wanted ($143.00 I think) but home on the 25 that was crazy at $198.00!!!!

I have credits to use so I was ok with that but usually we are abloe to get around $100.00 each way...my, things are changing!

And now I have about $150.00 in credits I cannot use bacause they are in mine and the kid's names and that's not enough for us to go anywhere else without spending more and I cannot use it for my husband becuase they are in our names...that stinks...should be able ot use them at least for immediate family members, after all, the funds are generated by both of us not just me!

But I love SWA so I will go along with it...can't wait...

Hey, does anyone know...can I add on the Early Bird Check In using the credits because it would not let me when i tried...I figured that woudl be a good way to use some of it and not let it go to waste!

Fantastic.

No I didn't say it - about the selling out - BUT saw it on my route with one slot.

No you do not have to phone if you originally booked online. It's simple online. Hit the change flight button to the right. It pulls up your original. And simply change it to the same flight and you will get a voucher with the difference attached to your original reservation number. I have done it a myriad of times - but not lately so someone will come on if anything has changed in the process.

If you book the less restrictive class with SW (higher prices) - they will refund the difference to one's CC by phone. But not with the non-refundable best deal column - only refundable by voucher (good for a year from date of booking)

Got my tickets for 11/9 down to MCO....$138

Back to PHL 11/15...$151.

Satisfied and ready to roll...

I'm not sure how you did that because SW changed the rules a year or two ago that credits could only be used by the person on the original ticket.

Bought 5 Southwest tickets today for 275.60 each w/taxes :thumbsup2

December 6th - 15th !

PHL _ MCO RT NON - STOP

Wow, we really got lucky. $240.00 pp round trip from BDL. December 1st-8th. Glad that is over with :)

Ready to go too!! Got my flights with my reward points this morning!! Debatinf whether I should do my early bird check in now, and be done with it. :goodvibes

The travel awards from SWA's previous frequent flyer plan (where you earned an award when you reached a certain number of credits) are subject to black out dates. The current points system is not.
