Southwest booking through Oct 27 !

Hi! The prices are higher than last year, but I guess that's to be expected with the increase in gas prices. I had SOOO many problems with the Southwest site this morning! One minute there were internet special fares, the next the were all unavailable and now they're not even coming us as a choice on our departure day, 9/29, from philadelphia.. soo confusing!

Regardless, I booked 2 one-way tickets for all 3 of us for about 202 per person... not that bad considering how expensive other airlines are..

Good luck everyone!

I had trouble with the site also. I called the number above (thanks) and was able to get the internet specials. Not a great rate but could be worse.

Didn't see the usual $79 deals out of Philly, but went ahead and booked anyway at $99.

C'mon DINGS!!

Just noticed the extension of dates this afternoon (you snooze, you lose!).LOL

Trying SW for 1st time MCO to PIT, $87.80 pp - not too shabby:cool1: .

Mom2Casey, just book it. Keep checking religiously, especially as it gets closer, and if the fares go down it is not hard to change it and get credits. You would have to use the credits (which are just the dollar amount of the difference) within a year, however. You never know what can happen, so at least get the flights you want, and non-stop is great (no wondering about holdups at other airports). Just my opinion, as asked!

WDW4us2006, We have some credits from our upcoming June vacation. We usually drive but are going to fly for some upcoming trips. So here's my question . . we purchased these june flights in April so do I have to just spend my credits by April 2007 or do I actually have to fly by April 2007? Hope my question is clear. THanks!

I was so surprised :earseek: to discover that SWA extended their dates on a Friday. I was just doing my diligent check this morning when I saw the extended dates. DH and I are traveling with friends of ours :grouphug: , so I called them to make sure that the flight times were OK. They said YES ::yes:: , and were THRILLED  with the price of $177.10 for NS RT flights. I was really getting worried because the only other NS that fit our travel dates/times was on NWA. The price was $263 :scared1: , which was WAY more than I had hoped to pay. I know that gas has gone up, but geez! Anyway, I can now sleep well tonight knowing that our flights are taken care of. Now for September to hurry up and get here :hourglass !

Just booked Indy to MCO 0930-1007 for 89 each for N/S flights. Now I can finally rest easy until our trip!!!!!

So...if airfare comes down, Southwest will honor the lower prices and credit the difference...really? I had no idea.

DanenRox . . .It's true. We have flights for next Sunday. Our original rate was $210 RT . . . through watching their site diligently we got it down to $118. We have six people going . . . right now we have a $552 credit with SW. SW will honor that credit for one year. But I'm still trying to find out if I have to spend the credit within the year or actually have my flight within the year. . . anybody know?

Dear Min,
That's such good information! So, I check the rates regularly and when there's a drop I call Southwest? Very exciting!

I'm pretty sure that you have to actually fly within the year.

I asked this question yesterday of SW customer service & was told if you cancel the credit must be applied toward purchase of new tix within 12 months of original purchase date but, you can fly after that date within the posted flights. Also told there are no blackout dates or change fees - sounds good to me.

Question re the 24 hour prior check-in: is it 24 hours "before" the actual flight departure or do they mean "anytime the day before flight".

DanenRox,

You can actually do it all online via the Travel Center on the SW site. Very convenient!

From what I understand it is 24 hours before the actual flight departure.

Thanks for the booking info!

Mindy

There is nothing from SLC to MCO that doesn't cost an arm and leg! :furious:

This is very interesting! It has always been that you must fly within 12 months of your original purchase, have they changed it recently? :confused3 I know it was clearly stated on the website, I will have to go check it out. It would be great if they changed it.

You can check in anytime starting 24 hours before your flight. If you want to be assured "A" boarding passes, you should check in as close to 24 hours ahead as possible.

Now, I'm really confused - hope they didn't give me the wrong info. Know I repeated it back to the agent. Will have to read all the legalese & call again I suppose.grrrr.

Good morning,
I recently made a change in our flights and the confirmation I received from SW states "All travel from this confirmation number must be completed by 4/20/07" April 20, 2006 is our the original purchase date. So, I don't think their policy has changed.

Hope this clears things up.

I had over $500 worth of SW credits that I had booked last May for trip last Oct (seems like a lot, but I was flying 10 people down and rates for each way dropped drastically after I booked). When I recently booked RT PHL/LAX for DNeph and myself for this August (outside of my 12 month window), I called customer service and explained my situation. I was given a 'one time only' credit extention for an additional 6 months (to end of Nov). I had to book and pay for our LAX tickets on line - they mailed me the credit vouchers and said after my flight is complete to mail them my itinerary and the vouchers and they will credit my cc. This is why I LOVE SW! DH keeps insisting this is not a free trip, but it sure feels free to me ;) !! (actually, it will cost me $60 RT for both of us if, in fact, they credit me when I return) :smooth:
