Southwest booking question

Southwest's website shows "On July 25, 2011, we will open our schedule for sale through March 9, 2012". We want to fly out on 3/9 and return on 3/17. Do I go ahead and book the March 9 departure as a one-way, then make it roundtrip when they release the other date, or wait and book it rountrip all at once when the other dates are released? (FYI...this is spring break in Texas, so the flights may fill up quickly.) Any suggestions/experience you can share will be greatly appreciated! Thanks:)

I would book them as two one ways for the best fare.

I would call Southwest and ask them what the best thing to do. Sometimes you pay more with a one way. We flew Southwest in the past and I can say they are very accommodating.

Thanks so much for the input! :thumbsup2 I'm relieved it won't cost more to fly one-way on SW. Are there any disadvantages to booking one ways instead of round trip?

This happens all the time when we travel over our spring break. I just book two different reservations. Book the one you can now and then when SWA opens up their next schedule, book your returning flight. No problems.

You can book your return flight on September 5th.

Actually with SW you are better off booking one ways rather than round trip. If 1 leg of your trip goes down you can rebook and get credit for the difference. If you have booked a round trip then you need both legs to go down in price in order to rebook at a discount! I always book SW one way only!
