hi there i just checked into my fligh with early boarding and got A20 just wondering in peoples experience how good that is also does that mean that i am the 20th person to board
thank you

I have never flown SW but I am curious, sounds like a seat assignment to me.:confused3

The letters and numbers are the order in which you line up and board. The A's go first, so yes, you're #20 after business and kids. You'll be able to pick a great seat. I think the numbers go up to 60? Then the B's line up and go, and so forth.

The A's general boarding starts at A16. The 1-15 seats go to those paying refundable fares. There are seldom that many business people flying...so getting an A20 is a very good deal. If there are no business select people, or others paying full refundable fares, flying, you may very well be the 5th person boarding...after any medical preboards.

OP that's a good number. I also checked in online this morning (out of Dulles) and DID NOT buy the EBCI and I got A40. Not too bad and saved the $10. Unfortunately this is my last time flying SW as the non-stops out of Dulles are no longer offered anymore. I would have to drive 1 1/2 hours to BWI to fly SW, and don't see that happening unless the fares get very ugly out of Dulles in the future. Have a safe flight!

does anyone recomemed the best rows to sit on the southwest plans ive always flown airtran in the business class seats this will be a first on southwest

IME, A20 is usually the 10th - at most - person to board. A1-A15 are for the people who paid for business select or are A-Listers. I've never seen more than a couple people, at most, in A1-A15. Medical pre-boards will go first, but there's not usually many of them. And then it's A16 on...

Agreed! :thumbsup2

That's a fantastic number!!!!!

I was considering flying SW this trip since they are now part of the RAC system at the WDW Resort, but JB came out with their fares for Nov first so I booked them.
For future reference are there no assigned seats? Do you just board and pick a seat ? :confused3
TIA

Any seat is a good seat as long as I am on the plane! :)

Seriously, check out seatguru.com. They rate the seating for each aircraft so you can make an informed decision.

does that mean that i am the 20th person to board

Probably not. Medical and disabled preboards will go first. Then the business select passengers (A 1-15 are reserved for them), however many there are. There could be 15 of them, or there could be none. Then A 15-19 will be lined up in front of you.

I am flying one of the last nonstops out of Dulles in July - and I never buy EBCI.

There are no assigned seats. Passengers after the medical preboards and the business select/ A list travelers board in the order they are checked in for the flight. They may then sit in any open seat on the plane.

You may purchase the opportunity to be automatically checked in at 36 hours before the flight for $10 per passenger. Anyone who didn't pay can check themselves in starting 24 hours prior to the flight.

Families with kids 4 and younger board after the A"s.

Are you traveling alone? That's a great number. I flew to Orlando in late March alone on Southwest and got A18 down and I think A19 back. On both flights, there were very few people in front of me - almost no Business Select passengers taking up the 1-15 spots reserved for them. I was able to sit in the exit row on the aisle both times, and on the flight down, no one sat in the middle seat between me and the guy in the window seat. :thumbsup2 There are lots of families on flights to Orlando (obviously) so I find exit rows are a bit easier to get - if that's what you are after.
