Southwest and their issues

Southwest today told its employees that it will delay a plan to place workers who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 on unpaid leave if they haven’t yet obtained a medical or religious exemption.

Oh goodie! Spread more covid!

People just like to read headlines. What Southwest and American said today is that unvaccinated employees who have requested exemptions can continue to work beyond the deadline IF the decision on their exemption has not been reached and if denied then they will be allowed to work while being given a reasonable amount of time to get vaccinated. That sounds like a perfectly reasonable decision. If you’re saying you can apply for an exemption but they are not able to provide you a decision at least 5 weeks before the deadline then it is impossible for you to go through the process and still be in compliance.
